Wesley David Richards (born March 1, 1983 in Othello (Washington) ), better known by his current ring name Davey Richards , is an American wrestler . He currently appears regularly at TNA and other independent promotions . One of his greatest achievements to date is winning the ROH World Championship .
Career
Beginnings
In his high school , Richards was on the wrestling team and practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu .
In 2004, Richards began his wrestling training. He was trained by Tony Kozina and Paul Orndorff. In June 2004, Richards played his first match.
Independent
From then on, Richards appeared in various independent promotions (e.g. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla or Pro Wrestling WAR ). At Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG for short) he formed a tag team with Super Dragon in 2005 . With this he won his first title, the PWG World Tag Team title . In June 2006 he made his first appearance on the Ring of Honor . On November 17, 2006, he won the PWG World Tag Team title a second time, this time with Roderick Strong . They gave up the titles only a day later. In February 2007, Richards formed the stable "No Remorse Corps" with Roderick Strong and Rocky Romero . These feuded Richards against the Stable "Resilience" (consisting of Austin Aries , Matt Cross and Erick Stevens ). In July 2007, Richards appeared in Japan at Pro Wrestling NOAH .
In January 2008 , Richards won the ROH World Tag Team Championship with Rocky Romero . They had to hand them over to The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) in April . In December 2008, Richards formed the American Wolves tag team with Eddie Edwards . With this, Richards won the ROH World Tag Team Championship on April 10, 2009. They gave the title to The Briscoes in December . With Edwards, Richards won the 2CW Tag Team Championship at Squared Circle Wrestling .
In the fall of 2010, Richards announced that he wanted to end his career. However, he rejected this and signed a new contract with Ring of Honor . There he won the ROH World Championship from Eddie Edwards on June 26, 2011 . He lost the title on May 12, 2012 in Border Wars to Kevin Steen .
On June 18, 2012, Richards again announced his retirement from wrestling to start a career in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu .
