The PWG World Championship (in German PWG World Championship), originally PWG Championship, is the most important wrestling title for individual wrestlers from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla . The title is a World Heavyweight Title and is also defended in other wrestling leagues. As is common in wrestling, the award is based on a previously determined storyline.
history
The title was introduced on August 30, 2003. The first title holder was determined on the same day at the Bad Ass Mother 3000 event , where a 16-man tournament was held. In the final of the tournament, Frankie Kazarian was able to prevail against Joey Ryan and crown himself the first title holder. In February 2006 the title was renamed from PWG Championship to PWG World Championship , as the then title holder Joey Ryan defended the title for the first time outside the USA . First, Joey Ryan defended his title against Emil Sitoci in Essen , Germany and later against Jonny Storm in Orpington , England .
