Walter Hahn (born August 20, 1987 in Vienna ) is an Austrian wrestler . He is currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ) and competes there with NXT UK under the ring name Walter (mostly written in capital letters as WALTER ). He has been the WWE United Kingdom Champion since April 6, 2019 after beating Pete Dunne on NXT TakeOver: New York . He has worked for a variety of independent wrestling promotions worldwide, most notably Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) and Progress Wrestling .
Professional career as a wrestler
Westside Xtreme Wrestling (2007-present)
Walter made his debut at Westside Xtreme Wrestling on May 4th 2007 in the pre-show of the 16 Carat Gold Tournament . On October 2nd, 2010 he defeated Zack Saber Jr. in Oberhausen and won the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship . On January 15, 2011, he lost the title to Daisuke Sekimoto , but won it back in the same year on May 2, 2011 as part of a Big Japan Pro Wrestling event in Tokyo , Japan . He then held the title for 383 days before losing it to El Generico on May 19, 2012 . On July 27, 2014, he won the title a third time by defeating Tommy End at Fans Appreciation Night , but then lost it again to Karsten Beck on January 17, 2015.
Progress Wrestling (2015-present)
Walter made his debut as Big Daddy Walter in Progress Wrestling on May 24, 2015 as part of the 2015 Super Strong Style 16 Tournament at the Electric Ballroom in London , where he lost to Rampage Brown in the first round . In 2016 he again took part in the Super Strong Style 16 Tournament and reached the quarterfinals, where he was eliminated by Chris Hero .
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)
NXT UK (2019-present)
Walter made his WWE debut on January 12, 2019 at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool by facing reigning WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne after successfully defending his title. The following week, Walter faced Pete Dunne again in the ring. Though he said nothing, he made it clear that he was after Dunne's title. In the NXT UK issue of February 2, 2019, Walter made his debut in the ring against Jack Starz. He beat Starz in less than four minutes.
In NXT TakeOver: New York , Walter finally defeated Pete Dunne on April 6, 2019, ended Dunne's record reign of 685 days and became the new WWE United Kingdom Champion .
In the May 22nd edition of NXT UK, Walter won a rematch for the United Kingdom Championship against Dunne after the intervention of the European Union ( Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel ) and established himself as a heel . At the same time he united the former wrestling group , but under the new NXT name Imperium . On November 24, 2019, he played a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match against Drew McIntyre , Ricochet , Seth Rollins , Randy Orton , Kevin Owens ( as Team NXT ) at the WWE Survivor Series together with Damian Priest , Matt Riddle , Keith Lee and Tommaso Ciampa ( as Team Raw ), Braun Strowman , King Corbin , Mustafa Ali , Shorty G. and Roman Reigns (as Team SmackDown ). In this match Walter was eliminated as the first participant.
