Adam Scherr (born September 6, 1983 in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina ), better known by his ring name Braun Strowman , is an American wrestler and former strongman . He is currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and appears regularly on their show SmackDown . His greatest achievement to date is receiving the WWE Universal Championship .

Strongman career

Scherr was initially active as a so-called strongman. This is a mix of bodybuilders and weightlifters who train themselves to extreme strength in order to compete against each other. In contrast to the established forms, these competitions are mostly aimed at the entertainment aspect. In 2011 he took part in the North American Strongman competition and earned his Pro Card there, which qualified him for professional competitions. In 2012 he won the Arnold Amateur Strongman World Championships hosted by the North American Strongman Corporation . At the so-called Europe Battle of Champions he won bronze in 2010.

Training (2013-2015)

On May 12, 2013, Scherr signed a contract with the WWE. He trained at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando , Florida and was given the ring name Braun Strowman . However, he only made his ring debut on December 19, 2014 on NXT . That day he was able to defeat Chad Gable . At WWE NXT he only appeared in seven dark matches and house shows , so he was completely unknown to most fans when he switched to the main WWE shows . However, on May 26, 2014, he was allowed to be there for the first time at a TV taping for a Raw edition. He appeared there in the wake of Adam Rose as the so-called "Rosebud".

At the first "WWE Raw" edition after SummerSlam , Scherr debuted in fights against Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose with the new ring name Braun Strowman . He joined the Wyatt Family around Bray Wyatt , Luke Harper and Erick Rowan . On September 22, 2015, he played his first PPV match at Night of Champions . There he won together with Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper against Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho . At WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 The Wyatt Family attacked the Undertaker at. This led to a feud between the Wyatt Family and the Brothers of Destruction (Undertaker and Kane ). In the Survivor Series , Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper lost to the Brothers of Destruction. At WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2015 , the Wyatt Family won an Eight Men Elimination Tag Team Match against the Dudley Boyz , Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno . The following edition of RAW resulted in a rematch in which the Wyatt Family also won the match.

Victory streak and various feuds (2016-2019)

On July 19, 2016, at the 2016 WWE Draft , Strowman was drafted to WWE Raw . As a result, Strowman was forced to leave the Wyatt Family as his partners switched to WWE Smackdown.

There were slight style changes after the draft. Since then he has done without his mask. He has since been portrayed as a powerhouse that does not respect weaker wrestlers, especially the cruiserweights and the luchadores . His first feud was against Sami Zayn . Since the Royal Rumble in 2017 , when he intervened on behalf of Kevin Owens in the match for the WWE Universal Championship . At the time of Survivor Series 2017 , Strowman had a feud with Kane . On January 15, 2018, according to a storyline, Kurt Angle fired him for destroying a $ 10 million WWE truck and attacking commentator Michael Cole . He was then reinstated by Kurt Angle.

At Wrestlemania 34, he picked 10-year-old Nicholas as a tag team partner and won the Raw Tag Team Championship with him . At the Greatest Royale Rumble he won the main event, the Royal Rumble, and also received the one-time WWE Greatest Royal Rumble Championship. At the major event Money in the Bank, he won the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match. So he can redeem the suitcase whenever he wants and thus has a chance at the WWE Universal Championship, which is currently being carried by Roman Reigns . However, this is usually taken in protection when Strowman wants to redeem the suitcase, which makes victory very difficult for Strowman. So far, he has not made it, even with the help of his Dogs of War , Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler . He was scheduled to play a match against Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar at the WWE Pay-Per View Crown Jewel on November 2, 2018 . Reigns' cancer disease turned this match into an individual match between himself and Lesnar for the vacant Universal Championship title. He lost that match. At WrestleMania 35 , he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. On June 7, 2019, Strowman played a singles match against Bobby Lashley on WWE Super ShowDown, which he won. On July 14, 2019, he played a Last Man Standing Match against Bobby Lashley, which he won.

On August 19, 2019, he and Seth Rollins won the Raw Tag Team Championship from The OC Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson . The reign lasted 27 days and lost the title to Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode on September 15, 2019 . On the same night he played a match for the Universal Championship against Seth Rollins, which he also lost.

SmackDown (since 2019)

As part of the WWE Draft, Strowman moved from Raw to SmackDown on October 11, 2019 . On October 31, 2019, he lost a match against Tyson Fury at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia via Countout. On November 24, 2019, he played a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match against Drew McIntyre , Ricochet , Seth Rollins , Randy Orton , Kevin Owens , Damian Priest , Matt at the WWE Survivor Series with King Corbin , Roman Reigns , Mustafa Ali and Shorty G. Riddle , Keith Lee , WALTER and Tommaso Ciampa . He won that match.

On January 31, 2020, he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura at SmackDown . On March 8, 2020, he lost the title to Sami Zayn . On April 4, 2020, he won the WWE Universal Championship from Goldberg . The reign lasted 141 days and finally lost the title to Bray Wyatt on August 23, 2020.
