Lashley in 2006.

On September 23, 2005, Lashley had the ring name Bobby Lashley on SmackDown ! his official WWE debut. He was introduced to the public as a three-time National Amateur Wrestling Champion , four-time All-American , two-time Armed Forces Champion and silver medalist at the Military World Championship . He had got the gimmick of a powerhouse , an absolute powerhouse, and so he was able to clearly defeat his opponent in a very short match. He was now placed on the middle combat map and went through his first feud programs . Lashley was allowed to win his matches initially, so he suffered his first defeat against John Layfield on February 19, 2006 . He was now used in the lower combat map for a while, as the audience noticed his wrestling and linguistic deficiencies on the microphone.

Finally, Lashley was upgraded again when he was returned to the middle combat map. As a result, he was allowed to defeat John Layfield on May 26, 2006 and briefly hold the WWE United States Championship . Already on July 14th Lashley had to give this title to Dave Finley . Lashley had experienced another upgrade, now in the top fight card, in September 2006: On September 15, he was allowed to win a title match against King Booker for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Finlay. He was now officially the No. 1 challenger to this title, but was not allowed to win it at PPV No Mercy .

ECW World Heavyweight Champion and final storylines (2006-2008)

ECW World Heavyweight Champion Lashley after winning December to Dismember 2006 .

On November 14, 2006, Bobby Lashley made his debut on an edition of ECW on SciFi . There he was presented as an opponent of Hardcore Holly and was allowed to defeat this. This made Lashley the sixth and final participant in the Extreme Elimination Chamber at the PPV ECW December to Dismember , the only major event that the ECW roster was allowed to host. There Lashley was able to win his first big title on December 3, 2006, when he was allowed to defeat Big Show for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship . After several title defenses Lashley had to give up the title on April 29, 2007 after a handicap match at WWE Backlash to Vince McMahon . On April 30th, the WWE announced that Lashley had to take a break due to a shoulder injury, but on June 3rd, 2007 he competed at the 2007 ECW One Night Stand . There Lashley was able to clearly defeat Vince McMahon in a street fight and win the ECW title for the second time.

On June 11, 2007, Lashley switched to RAW due to the draft lottery . As a result, the ECW title was revoked and declared vacant.

The WWE tried to use Lashley again in the upper combat map and so he also played several title matches, which he was not allowed to win due to his real shoulder injury. Lashley was injured and on leave as part of a storyline .

On January 22, 2008, Lashley announced on his official website that he will not be returning to WWE after his recovery and that he has asked for his release. On February 4, 2008, Lashley was also officially fired from the WWE.

Return to WWE (since 2018)

On April 9, 2018, Bobby Lashley made a small appearance on RAW after WrestleMania . Previously, it was suspected that Lashley was supposed to appear at WrestleMania 34 the day before, but it didn't take place until RAW when he attacked Elias. In the course of the year he was joined by the WWE 205 live wrestler Lio Rush as a so-called hype man . After several minor feuds against various wrestlers, Lashley was able to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career in the RAW broadcast on January 14, 2019 in a triple threat match . For this he pinned the previous champion Dean Ambrose after he was struck down by Seth Rollins , who was also in the match. Rollins was promoted from the ring right in front of the pin by Lio Rush, who intervened in the fight on several occasions on behalf of Lashley. At the Elimination Chamber on February 17, 2019, Lashley lost the title to Finn Bálor without being pinned himself, as the encounter was set up as a 2: 1 handicap match and Lashley played together with Lio Rush.

In the RAW broadcast of March 11, 2019, there was another title match between Bálor and Lashley, which Lashley won after Rush intervened. With this win, Bobby Lashley won the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the second time . He lost the title on April 7, 2019 at Wrestlemania 35 again to Bálor, who appeared as a demon and won the match. On June 7, 2019, Lashley played a singles match against Braun Strowman on WWE Super ShowDown, but he lost it. On July 14, 2019, he played a last man standing match against Braun Strowman, which he lost.
