Robert William "Bob" Howard (born January 29, 1963 in Grants Pass , Oregon , USA ) is an American wrestler who has long appeared as Hardcore Holly for the market leader WWE in its weekly television programs and at major events.

His greatest successes with the WWE were receiving the WWE World Tag Team Champion title three times and receiving the WWF Hardcore Champion title six times .

Career

Beginnings

Howard was trained by Stan Frazier, Eddie Sullivan, Marcelle Pringle. He made his debut in 1987 in the World Organization of Wrestling and was allowed to win two titles there.

Then Howard joined the National Wrestling Alliance and from 1992 at Smokey Mountain Wrestling .

World Wrestling Federation / World Wrestling Entertainment

On January 11, 1994 Howard made his debut at the then World Wrestling Federation . At the Royal Rumble 1995 he was allowed to win the tag team title together with Sean Waltman and hold it for a day. The following day both had to cede the title to Billy and Bart Gunn ( The Smokin 'Gunns ). On May 7, 1995 Howard stepped in a title match against Jeff Jarrett for the WWF Intercontinental title, which he was not allowed to win.

On March 30, 1998, Howard and Bart Gunn were allowed to win the NWA World Tag Team title as a group called The New Midnight Express . It wasn't until August 14th of the same year that they had to cede the title to the Border Patrol tag team .

In 1999, Howard and his cousin Crash Holly were part of a tag team that was named The Holly Cousins . Both were allowed to win the tag team title and Howard also had several title maches for the Intercontinental title, which he was not allowed to win.

In 2000 Howard broke his arm and had to take a few months off.

In 2002 he made his comeback. The WWE had meanwhile split into two shows ( RAW and SmackDown! ). Howard was off on SmackDown! active, where he was in a match against Brock Lesnar by a poorly executed powerbomb the neck broke.

After a 13 month hiatus, Howard returned to the Survivor Series in November 2003.

After a wound on his right arm was infected, doctors considered a possible amputation. However, Howard was lucky and was able to return in the summer of 2006.

He made his debut in Brand Extreme Championship Wrestling on August 21, 2006 when he defeated Balls Mahoney . On September 26, Howard suffered a serious back injury in an Extreme Rules Match against Rob Van Dam : He fell out of the ring during an action against Van Dam and injured himself on a metal edge of a table that Van Dam had set up outside the ring shortly before . Howard suffered a 30 cm long, deep cut on the left shoulder blade that had to be sewn with 24 stitches. In 2007 he became the No. 1 challenger to the ECW World Title from Bobby Lashley . However, Howard was not allowed to win the title.

In April his right elbow problem came back. Howard had to take a break for another 5 months. In July 2007, Howard was again used at SmackDown as a result of the Draft Lottery . But he went to RAW a short time later . Here Howard formed a tag team with Cody Rhodes after a brief feud program , which was allowed to become World Tag Team Champions in December 2007.

On June 29, 2008 at Night of Champions Howard had to win the Tag Team title against Ted DiBiase jr. and his own tag team partner, Cody Rhodes, defend and lose in a handicap match . Then he paused. On January 16, 2009, Howard was unexpectedly released from the WWE.
