ORF SPORT + (formerly ORF Sport Plus ) is a special- interest sports channel of ORF , its program is broadcast on Astra and on cable. Before the conversion from TW1 to ORF III , the station shared the frequency with the tourism and weather channel.
history
In May 2000, ORF started a regular sports program on the former TW1 broadcaster. Fringe sports, which were otherwise rather neglected, got a detailed report here. Both live broadcasts and magazine programs were broadcast several times a week on TW1. Since the start of ORF Sport Plus on May 1, 2006, ORF's sports programs have been broadcast in the form of its own special-interest sports channel.
Since October 22, 2007 it has been broadcast on Mux B in all federal states of Austria via DVB-T . When there was no program - in contrast to cable and satellite - a notice board was broadcast and the radio station Ö3 was broadcast as a sound . After TW1 was discontinued, the ORF broadcast its sports program 24 hours a day.
On July 15, 2009, the ORF information director Elmar Oberhauser announced that the station would be discontinued in 2010 for cost reasons. The program was secured by the ORF law and is to be expanded.
On October 26, 2011, ORF SPORT + was expanded into a 24-hour special-interest channel. The transmitter took over the antenna frequency previously shared with Hitradio Ö3 TV and received new satellite and cable seats.
For 24. October 2014 one was High Definition (HD) version announced the transmitter.

restrictions
Due to regulations by the media authority KommAustria , ORF SPORT + is not allowed to broadcast any so-called “premium sports”. This includes those competitions “which are given a lot of space in Austrian media coverage”, such as the Bundesliga , the Alpine Ski World Cup and Formula 1 . Thus, mainly fringe sports are broadcast live on the station. In rare cases, this regulation can lead to sports broadcasts being shown on three of the four ORF channels ( ORF 1 , ORF 2 and ORF SPORT +) at the same time.

The station can be received on Mux B via DVB-T in the provincial capitals of Austria. ORF SPORT + can be received via cable in Austria and Liechtenstein, as well as in some cable networks in Germany, Slovenia, Poland and Hungary. ORF SPORT + can be received via satellite on the following frequency. An ORF digital satellite card is required for decryption.
