Radio Tirol is the regional radio for Tirol and South Tirol operated by ORF within the scope of the channel Österreich 2 ( Austria-Regional ). The broadcasts of ORF Tirol are produced and processed in the Landesstudio Tirol .

history

Soon after the start of RAVAG , relay stations were set up in the federal states to transmit the programs broadcast in Vienna. In Tyrol, the first radio test programs took place in 1926 in Aldrans near Innsbruck . The history of the Landesstudios Tirol goes back to the " Sendergruppe West " established in the French occupation zone in 1945 . This had studios in Dornbirn and Innsbruck. In 1952 the transmission systems were handed over to the Tyrolean provincial government earlier than in the other occupation zones. The program was mixed, with local news and local information being broadcast as well as classical music, radio plays and features that were still called " audio sequences" at the time. Talents such as Ernst Grissemann , Axel Corti , Otto Grünmandl and Bert Breit grew up in the literature department of the then Innsbruck broadcaster . Between 1954 and 1956 the former " Sendergruppe West " was transferred to the newly founded ORF .

With the introduction of the structural programs on October 1, 1967, Radio Tirol went on air as "ÖR-Radio Tirol" in its current form. In 1972, today's state studio was opened in the Saggen district of Innsbruck . In addition to the main activity in the radio sector, television programs were and are being produced for the series “ Österreich Bild ”, and from 1988 also the daily, later daily information and magazine program “ Tirol heute ”. In 1992 the old name "ÖR", which stood for " Austria Regional ", was given up in favor of the name "Ö2". With the nationwide introduction of private regional radio stations, the name “Ö2” was pushed more and more into the background and, because of its better profile compared to the new competition, was slipped into the “catchy” name “Radio Tirol”.
