Bert Breit
Bert Breit (born July 25, 1927 in Innsbruck ; † September 17, 2004 there ) was an Austrian composer , journalist , filmmaker , actor and draftsman .
Life
Bert Breit attended elementary school and grammar school in Innsbruck. His involvement in a resistance group against the Nazi regime brought him into political custody towards the end of the war. After the war, he began studying music in Innsbruck and graduated from the Mozarteum in Salzburg . He then had private lessons with Carl Orff . A scholarship from the Institut Francais took him to Paris to continue his studies.
In 1946, at the age of 19, Bert Breit founded the Walther von der Vogelweide Chamber Choir with like-minded people , with which he celebrated great successes around the world. He led the choir for 15 years.
From 1951 to 1967 Bert Breit headed the serious music department at ORF Tirol .
From 1968 Bert Breit made documentaries that mainly dealt with sociopolitical and social issues. In addition, he designed numerous features for radio and television.
In addition to numerous film scores, his musical oeuvre mainly includes works for chamber and string orchestras and his radiophonies. The signature for the radio feature The Silencer is a special memory . by and with Axel Corti .
In addition to Breits artistic work, his social commitment should also be emphasized. He worked on a voluntary basis as a probation officer and dealt critically with society's dealings with minorities in numerous radio features.
His daughter Barbara Breit played the role of his daughter in the crime scene Himmelfahrt , where Breit also wrote the music. Obviously, this was her only appearance in a movie.
