Fritz Lehner

Fritz Lehner (born May 15, 1948 in Freistadt , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian director and writer .

Life

He graduated from the University of Film and Television in Vienna. His best-known films include The Village on the Border , Schöne Tage (1981, written and directed), With My Hot Tears (written and directed) and Jedermanns Fest (written and directed). For his works he has received the Austrian People's Education Prize (1979 and 1986), the Prix Italia (1982 and 1983), the Adolf Grimme Gold Prize (1982 and 1986), the Upper Austria Regional Culture Prize for Literature (1992) and Film (1999 ), the Großer Diagonale-Preis (2002) and the prize of the city of Freistadt at the festival "Der neue Heimatfilm" 2016. In 2019 Fritz Lehner received the cultural honorary symbol of Upper Austria in gold.

In addition, Fritz Lehner is active in literature. His first novel, R , was published in autumn 2003. In 2005, the novel trilogy Hotel Metropol followed , a research- based literary representation of the former Gestapo headquarters on Morzinplatz in Vienna. In the novel The Snowflake Researcher , Lehner sets a monument to his hometown Freistadt. In 2011/12 he published Margolin , a sequential multimedia novel for which he produced new texts and film clips every week. In 2014 the detective novel Before the Attack was published , in 2016 the thriller Seestadt , which takes place in the newly built Viennese district Seestadt and was on the shortlist for the Leo Perutz Prize 2016; he received this award in 2018 for NITRO .
