Leo Perutz Prize

The Leo Perutz Prize is a literary prize awarded by the municipality of Vienna and the main association of the Austrian book trade . The award is named after the writer Leo Perutz (1882–1957).

Every year, the Leo Perutz Prize is awarded to the best new publication from the crime novel genre in the German-speaking area that has a specific connection to Vienna. A jury is responsible for the award, which draws up a shortlist and selects the final winner from this. The award was first presented on September 28, 2010. The prize is endowed with 5000 euros.

The jury always consists of a representative from the City of Vienna (MA7), from the Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade, from journalism, from the assortment and an author. The decisions of the jury are made independently, the jury does not give praise.
