Bastian Zach (born November 23, 1973 in Leoben ) is an Austrian writer , screenwriter and graphic designer . He lives as a self-employed artist in Vienna .

Zach was born in Leoben / Styria in 1973. He spent his youth in Salzburg , where he attended the music school . In 1993 he moved to the graphic arts department in Vienna, which he graduated with a diploma in 1996. After working for various advertising agencies, he started his own business in 1996.

In 2001 he founded the author duo Zach / Bauer together with Matthias Bauer. Together with Bauer, he wrote the scripts from WEG 2001, infinite 2003, 3 rooms. Kitchen. Death. , One Way Trip 3D . They also wrote the script for the international film Northmen - A Viking Saga .

Zach / Bauer's trilogy of Morbus Dei (The Arrival, Inferno and In the Sign of Aries) , all published by Haymon-Verlag , has been translated into English, Spanish and Russian.

After Dei's disease , the two-volume work Das Blut der Picts and Das Blut der Picts - Feuersturm was published by Heyne-Verlag . Zach / Bauer's novel Tears of the Earth , an epic historical family saga in the Thirty Years' War, was published in October 2019. The sequel, The Empire of Two Crosses , will follow in November 2020.

Bastian Zach's children's book Die Schmatzekatze was published in August 2019. In April the historical Vienna crime thriller Donaumelodien - Praterblut was published by Gmeiner-Verlag . The novel was nominated as one of five titles for the Leo Perutz Prize for Crime Fiction 2020. In September 2020 a kind of spin-off will follow with Danube melodies - morbid stories .
