history

Publishing house in Meßkirch

The publishing house was founded in 1986 by Armin Gmeiner. Originally Gmeiner wanted to publish the Pope's encyclicals and other works in the universal language Esperanto , but quickly devoted himself to the publication of national history titles in small editions . The fiction program started in 1998 with the Swabian crime series . At the end of 2002, Gmeiner-Verlag GmbH was re-established and the decision was made to expand the crime program and to extend the regional connection to the entire German-speaking area (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

In the meantime, around 30 employees in the areas of editing, media design, marketing and sales publish around 175 new paperbacks in the series detective novels, contemporary detective novels, historical novels, criminal leisure guides, “Favorite Places to Discover” and “The Special Book”. The Gmeiner-Verlag is known for crime novels, especially for economic topics as well as the large regional focus. The more than 1200 available titles in the Gmeiner library are all original editions by authors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, among which debutants can also be found regularly.

In addition to its paperbacks, Gmeiner-Verlag also has crime stories in its program. The advertising agency Gmeiner Media has also been part of the publishing house since 2014 .

The publisher is a member of the German Book Trade Association .
