Paulus Hochgatterer
Paulus Hochgatterer (born July 16, 1961 in Amstetten , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian child and youth psychiatrist and author . Since 2007 he has been Primarius of the Clinical Department for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Tulln University Hospital .
Life
Hochgatterer grew up in Amstetten and Blindenmarkt in the Lower Austrian Mostviertel . After taking his school leaving examination in 1979 , he studied medicine and psychology at the University of Vienna . 1985 doctorate he there as a doctor of medicine.
From 1992, he was a specialist in psychiatry and neurology for children and adolescents and held a position as senior physician at the Rosenhügel Neurological Hospital in Vienna. Later he headed the Institute for Educational Aid in Vienna-Floridsdorf.
Since 2007, Hochgatterer has headed the Clinical Department for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Tulln University Hospital as Primarius. From November 2017 to October 2018, Hochgatterer used a one-year sabbatical.
Hochgatterer is the author of narrative works that are based on the professional experience of the author as a psychiatrist and whose protagonists are often mentally ill and outsiders.
Hochgatterer is a member of the Austrian IG Authors Authors .
