Manfred Rebhandl

Manfred Rebhandl (born 1966 in Windischgarsten ) is an Austrian author of crime novels and newspaper reporter .

Life

Manfred Rebhandl grew up in Upper Austria and did the HAK Matura in Liezen . After doing community service at Lebenshilfe , he studied sociology and comparative literature, worked and broke off his studies. From 1995 onwards he wrote four scripts , including the episode Abfalls des ORF for the crime series Polizeiruf 110 .

His first crime novel was published in 2005, this and the following three were set in Rebhandl's rural home. Rock Rockenschaub from the Ottakring Rebhandl milieu has been the protagonist since 2012 .

In 2012 Rebhandl received the Leo Perutz Prize for The Sword of the East . In addition to his fiction work, he writes as a reporter for Die Welt .

Rebhandl has a daughter. The journalist Bert Rebhandl is his brother.
