The Czernin Verlag is an Austrian book publisher based in Vienna .

history

The Czernin Verlag was founded in 1999 by the Austrian journalist and author Hubertus Czernin . In the spring of 2004 Benedikt Föger and Klaus Gadermaier took over the management of the publishing house, and Benedikt Föger has been managing the company as sole managing partner since 2008. Benedikt Föger has also been President of the Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade since 2014.

According to its own definition, the publishing concept is "based on the idea of ​​sensitizing people to 'uncomfortable' topics on the basis of Austrian cultural and intellectual history, promoting critical discourse within society and thus supporting the democratic principle."

The Czernin Verlag logo, the feather sword, is taken from the family coat of arms of the Bohemian noble family Czernin von und zu Chudenitz , from which the publisher's founder came from.

Publishing program

Czernin Verlag publishes around 20 book titles per year, a total of around 500 titles are available (as of March 2020). The thematic focus of the Czernin Verlag lies in the areas of non-fiction and literature.
