Austrofred (2015)

Austrofred is, in allusion to Freddie Mercury , the stage name of Franz Adrian Wenzl (born July 13, 1976 in Steyr , Upper Austria ). He sees himself as "the only Austrian rock star of international stature". During his appearances he sings Austropop texts to Queen melodies. Wenzl is also the lead singer of the indie rock band Kreisky and a writer.

The main presence of Austrofred are his concerts, where he sings Austrian to Queen instrumental playbacks .

The road movie Giving Gas was released at the end of 2005 . In this film, he documents the desperate attempts to get the inspection sticker (" Pickerl ") for his car. The fitness video Fit with Austrofred had already appeared before .

Since November 2005, Austrofred has presented the program Hello Austrofred - Hello Vienna! Once a month on the Vienna cable broadcaster Okto . , in which he visits and interviews local greats in Vienna at home.

In the summer of 2006 his autobiography Alpenkönig und Menschenfreund was published , in which he tells his career, beginning as an altar boy , through appearances with the show and dance band Crazy Diamonds, to his current successes.

Together with Thomas Rabitsch he organizes the Austrofred Gala in the Vienna Rabenhof Theater . He reads excerpts from his autobiography and sings some of his songs, accompanied only by Thomas Rabitsch on the piano.

At the beginning of 2008 Austrofred published all episodes of Hello Austrofred, Hello Vienna on a double DVD. Unusually for an artist in the underground scene, he achieved a respectable success with number 10 in the official DVD charts. Shortly before Christmas 2008, the book Ich Rechne noch in Schilling was published , a collection of his online and private diary entries. He presented his correspondence with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 2010 in his book: You can shove your magic flute up your ass .

In August and September 2009, in August 2010 and in July 2011, he presented the program Unter Palmen on FM4 for one week .
