Stefanie Werger (born July 2, 1951 in Maria Lankowitz , West Styria ) is an Austrian musician , author and actress .

Life

As a child she received piano , flute and violin lessons . At the age of 20 she broke off her studies at the Graz Music Academy. Eleven years later, after touring Germany with professional dance music groups, she was discovered by a Viennese publisher and released her first record entitled “I am the next one”. With the following eleven studio and three live albums, she received numerous awards.

Werger has also been an author since the 1990s. Her repertoire includes books of poetry (e.g. in the beginning was love ), but also short stories and a cookbook .

In 2003 she won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the category “Best Female Rock / Pop National” and made a guest appearance in the TV series Kommissar Rex . Stefanie Werger has lived in Graz since 2000, where she owned a coffee house until 2007, which was run by her sister Helga.

Stefanie Werger married on June 16, 2006. In autumn 2006, she broke up with her book Ich rauche! , in which she spoke out resolutely against political measures against smoking, sparked an extremely heated debate among the Austrian public. Since 2001 she has also been touring successfully as a cabaret artist with her music and cabaret programs. Current program 2008/2009: “50 plus - Gunshot?” .

In 2014 she was awarded the honorary prize for her life's work at the Amadeus Awards .
