Innuendo (English "hint" or "indecision") is a song by the British rock group Queen . It was released on February 4, 1991 on the album of the same name and as a single on May 14, 1991. It contains a flamenco part played by Yes guitarists Steve Howe and Brian May .

Emergence

The basic idea was developed by John Deacon , Brian May and Roger Taylor in Montreux . Freddie Mercury later completed the song by adding the melody to the song and, along with Taylor, the lyrics.

In the song there are clear reminiscences of the Led Zeppelin song Kashmir , which, according to Queen guitarist Brian May, served as inspiration. With this in mind, Queen played a medley from Innuendo and Kashmir at the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert together with Led Zeppelin's lead singer Robert Plant in honor of the late Queen singer Freddie Mercury.

music

In addition to the rock parts, the song contains a flamenco part in the middle, for which Queen brought guest musician Steve Howe into the studio. Basically, the piece is very much influenced by electric guitars, the synthesizer and the drums.

The orchestra in the middle of the song is completely recorded with synthesizers.

occupation

Music video

In the video you can see the band members alternately making music as drawn figures, old black and white video recordings as well as little modeling clay in between . The video zooms out of the picture again and again so that one sees the auditorium of a movie theater in which the music video is running on the screen. The scenes of the band members consist of animated versions of past music videos.
