Dirk Stermann (born December 7, 1965 in Duisburg ) is a German radio presenter , cabaret artist and author . He has lived and worked in Austria since 1988 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Stermann did community service . He then wanted to study theater studies in Germany, but due to his high school diploma and the high numerus clausus he would have had to wait several years for a university place . So he decided to go to Vienna and study theater and history there, which he broke off.

He has been working for ORF since 1988 ; from 1990 he formed the duo Stermann & Grissemann together with the Austrian Christoph Grissemann . The two moderated the radio satellite show Salon Helga , and in the 1990s they also moderated the satirical dating radio show Radio Blume . Between 1998 and 2011 Stermann also worked for Radio Eins , where he and Grissemann designed the radio show Show Royale. From 2004 to 2013 he moderated the protest song contest at the Rabenhof Theater in Vienna . Since 2007 he has hosted the talk show Willkommen Österreich together with Christoph Grissemann . In December 2012 he presented the satirical game show No Chance - The Stermann Against Grissemann Show with Grissemann .

In Stermann's novel Six Austrians among the top five there is a dentist named Dr. Braun de Praun from Graz, who becomes a job thief. It just so happens that there is a real dentist in Graz with the same name. This sued Stermann for damages, but lost in the last instance (at the Supreme Court ).

From 2015 to 2017, Stermann hosted five episodes of the show Soul Kitchen - The Story of an Evening on NDR television . Dirk Stermann has a daughter and a son.

In 2019 he published the historical novel Der Hammer about Joseph von Hammer-Purgstall .
