Eric Reyssat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Éric Reyssat is a French mathematician who mainly deals with number theory.

Reyssat made in 1977 when Michel Waldschmidt at the University of Paris VI his diploma ( mesures de nombres de transcendence lies aux fonctions elliptiques ) and in 1982 a doctorate ( approximation diophantienne et fonctions de Weierstrass ). He has been a professor at Caen University since the late 1980s .

In number theory he deals with transcendent numbers , Diophantine approximations and arithmetic geometry, the abc conjecture and cryptography with elliptic curves .

In the theory of transcendent numbers, he achieved results in the context of the Gelfond conjecture at the beginning of the 1980s , with results (on the degree of transcendence of the numbers in the conjecture) from Gregory Chudnovsky , Patrice Philippon, Reyssat and others finally becoming the best result to date by Guy Diaz in 1989 led. Further work by Reyssat concerns the transcendence of values of elliptic functions.
