Günter Neuwirth (born September 22, 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian writer .

Life

After training as a mechanical engineer, Neuwirth studied German philology and philosophy at the University of Vienna . In 1994 Neuwirth completed his studies with a diploma thesis on Austrian war and anti-war poetry 1914–1918 under Professor Murray G. Hall . Years of professional activity in Graz followed (1994–2001). Neuwirth has lived in south-western Styria since 2001.

Stage work

Neuwirth is self-taught at the piano. He played for several years as a keyboard player in bands with regular appearances in Viennese jazz clubs. From 1995 to 1997 Neuwirth appeared as a solo comedian with self-written programs Sandleriade and shading on. From 1995 to 2001 he brought literary performance to the stage as part of the group Mordslust.

Neuwirth's primary artistic work is literature. From 2008 to 2012 he worked in the prepress department of Edition Buche. The first publications of his novels were published by this publisher. In 2012 publications followed in the Austrian publishing company Styria Media Group .
The author has been publishing detective novels with Gmeiner-Verlag since 2016 . Neuwirth wrote crime novels, satires, novels and poetry. He is a member of the platform of Austrian crime writers and the IG authors authors . Since April 2018, Neuwirth has been part of the extended board of directors of the German-language crime literature syndicate (authors) , as the Criminale Advisory Board .

In May 2017 Neuwirth directed the literature festival Criminale 2017 in Graz and Styria, where the Friedrich Glauser Prize 2017 was awarded.
