Andreas Gruber (born August 28, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian writer who primarily writes in the genres of fantasy , horror and thriller .

Life

Andreas Gruber studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and lives as a freelance writer with his family in Grillenberg south of Vienna. His books have been awarded three times the Vincent Prize and three times the German Fantastic Prize, as well as being translated into more than ten foreign languages. a. in Italy, France, Russia, Brazil, Korea and Japan. With his various book series about the Viennese insurance detective Peter Hogart, the criminal investigator Walter Pulaski, the BKA profiler Maarten S. Sneijder or the young adventurer Terry West, he achieved a total circulation of over 3 million copies in German-speaking countries. In 2018, together with the Mordsharz crime festival, he launched the Harzer-Hammer, a literary prize endowed with 1,000 euros and awarded annually as part of the festival for young crime writers.

Andreas Gruber has been working specifically with writing since 1996. He initially wrote author portraits for Space View magazine , followed in 1997 by the first short stories for fanzines such as Fantasia , Nocturno , Sagittarius , SOLAR-X and the Andromeda SF magazine as well as in literary magazines such as @cetera and DUM . In 1999, his short story Das Businessspiel won first place in the literature competition of the Lower Austrian Danube Festival.

His stories have appeared in numerous magazines such as Alien Contact , Criminalis , Nocturno , Nova , Omen , phantastisch! and Space View as well as in anthologies by the publishers Aarachne , Basilisk , Bejot , Bielefeld , Blitz Verlag , Eloy Edictions , lerato , midas publishing , Robert Richter , Schreiblust , Shayol , Storia , ubooks , Ulmer Manuskripte , VirPriV and Web-Site .

Many of his works and stories have been awarded or nominated for various prizes. In 2019 Constantin Films started filming its Maarten S. Sneijder series on behalf of SAT.1.

Deadline

In 2019 Constantin Film filmed the SAT1 with a deadline - Nemez and Sneijder determine the first volume in Andreas Gruber's death series. Directed by Christopher Schier , the screenplay was written by Verena Kurth. Josefine Preuß plays the young Munich Commissioner Sabine Nemez, and the Dutch actor Raymond Thiry plays the Dutch profiler of the BKA Wiesbaden . The film was shot in Vienna.
