action

Willi Erkens, Bernd Lobsien, Lossak, Thomas Brass, Jan Stratman and Holger Budinski belong to the band of the Doetersen Volunteer Fire Brigade in Schleswig-Holstein. Little by little, they are seriously injured by rifle shots in the stomach from an ambush. It soon becomes clear that the men share a secret.

Thomas Brass, married with two children, is the first. When he stands in front of his house while Lossak tries out the new (loud) Brass motorcycle, he suddenly collapses, doubles in pain and finally loses consciousness. He's bleeding from his stomach after being shot injured. Commissioner Finke and his assistant should clarify the case, as an attempted murder cannot be ruled out. On the way to Doetersen, Finke asks a nursery for directions. The gardener mentions that a beautiful flower is named after his daughter Isa. In addition to the owner, a young guy works there. Brass isn't seriously injured, but doesn't want to tell the police about possible backgrounds. This does not get any further in the case.

Bernd Lobsien is a player in the TUS Doetersen district class club and a trainer of two children's teams. He suddenly collapses while playing one of these teams. What the children initially consider to be fun for their trainer actually turns out to be bloody serious. He was shot too. After the doctor's diagnosis, he will remain paraplegic. The other four comrades sense that the common secret could be the cause of the attacks. It turns out that on Ascension Day, while drunk, they hit a girl riding a bicycle in a VW bus and eventually raped her. However, Budinski was not there and Brass was not involved in the rape. Lossak in particular persuades the others not to tell the police about this crime under any circumstances.

Willi Erkens suffered severe burns when he rescued two children from a burning farmhouse at risk of death. On the day of his discharge from the hospital, his recovery is extensively celebrated in the circle of fellow fire fighters. But he cannot long enjoy the restored health. Robbi, the boy from the nursery, who also shoots Erkens in the stomach with a rifle from behind the scenes, is also at the fair. Erkens is more seriously injured than the others, his life is in danger. In the nursery it is shown that the girl's father is carrying out the campaign of revenge together with Robbi. They do joint target practice, also to only inflict injuries on those involved, but not to kill them. The girl is severely traumatized, she fears contact with men, especially Robbi, her former boyfriend, but also with her father. This is described as incurable.

The residents of Doetersen are concerned. The mayor is even considering setting up a vigilante group. However, those involved know about the background, especially the wife of Brass suspects a secret, but receives no information from her husband. Stratmann flees Doetersen and hides in the city of Kiel . Despite many interrogations, Finke remains unsuccessful, but it is clear to him that the reason for the attacks must lie in a shared experience of the fire fighters. The seriously injured Willi Erkens commits suicide because the act at that time incriminated him.

When the uninvolved drinks dealer Budinski mentioned to Lossak that he wanted to go to the police, Lossak shot him with a revolver. For the police it appears to be another attack, but since the murder weapon here is a pistol and was not shot in the stomach, Finke doubts this. Lossak is now trying to get to the perpetrators himself. He researched the name of the girl who at the time only placed an ad because of a minor traffic accident. The police therefore searched rather carelessly.

Lossak finds the nursery and plans an attack on the family. In the meantime, Stratmann is accidentally beaten up by ruffians in Kiel. He sees a connection with the attacks and reports everything to the police. Finke drives to the nursery with his assistant, while Lossak is already lurking on the site with the rather unwilling Brass. The father and Robbi confess their actions and show the police the shooting range. Lossak tries to shoot Robbi, but Brass deflects the shot and is injured himself. The girl is taken to a psychiatric institution and the four men are in police custody. At the end you can see Lobsia driving through the hospital park in a wheelchair.
