Curt Timm

Curt Timm (born January 29, 1926 in Hamburg ; † July 22, 2015 in Speyer ) was a German actor , director , speaker and general manager .

Life

Curt Timm trained as an actor and director for drama and opera at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . After various engagements as an actor, assistant director and dramaturge, he became chief dramaturge and senior director of the Stralsund Theater . From 1953 he was director there. At the same time he worked as a lecturer at the State Drama School for dramatic lessons and speaking technique.

In the early 1960s he lived in Hamburg , where he worked as an actor at the Thalia Theater with Willy Maertens and as a director at the art theater . In 1967 he briefly took over the "Intimate Theater", which the Baden-Baden wholesale merchant and theater entrepreneur Heinz Mehnert had opened shortly before in the basement of theater 53 . As a director at Norddeutscher Rundfunk and Radio Bremen, he produced more than 60 radio plays. Timm also had a few roles in Europa in the late 1960s .

From 1974 to 1986 he was director of the theater in Flensburg .

In addition to his many stage roles, you could also spot him on television, where he appeared in various series such as Tatort or Bella Block .

Since 1986 Timm has been increasingly active as a reciter in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With his CD series "Traces of the Word" he contributed to a new examination of the Bible. Each biblical topic is set in dialogue with its literary processing. Musical interpretations round off the respective topic complex. So far:

In 2007 Timm worked as a reciter on “Klaus Störtebeker” , based on the novel by Wilhelm Lobsien . In 2008 he spoke the audio book for the novel “The Fall of Paris” by Gerdt Fehrle . In March 2014 he retired from professional life. He died on July 22, 2015 at the age of 89 in Speyer am Rhein, where he had lived since 2008.
