Matthias Janz
Matthias Janz (* 1947 in Lübeck ) is a north German church musician.
Matthias Janz studied musicology , theology , church music and conducting a . a. with Helmuth Rilling . From 1975 to 2012 he was organist and cantor at the Marienkirche (Flensburg) , where he continues to lead the Bach choir. Since 1984 he has also directed the Hamburg Symphony Choir and the Schleswig-Holstein State Youth Choir since 1993 . From 1978 to 2018, he taught at the Lübeck University of Music , initially in the subjects of organ and choir conducting and then in oratorio conducting and design, and since 1991 as a professor. He was a guest conductor of well-known orchestras and choirs and has given concerts with his choirs in Leipzig , Dresden , Wroclaw , Krakow, Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm, among others . Janz is church music director i. R.
