In the evenings, Radio Niederösterreich brings special-interest programs, including traditional folk music . The program offers detailed reports and information from the country throughout the day and is increasingly positioning itself as a service radio.

Most of the individual broadcasts were grouped together into large broadcasting lines, so that Radio Niederösterreich followed the omnipresent trend towards magazine-oriented format radio. In the evenings and at night, Radio Niederösterreich brings fans' programs and specials, including for fans of swing, jazz, classical music, evergreens and popular hits. In Nachtschwärmer (10 p.m. - 5 a.m.), Radio Niederösterreich is increasingly aimed at Schlager friends. With around 550,000 listeners (media analysis 2005), Radio Niederösterreich is the most popular ORF regional radio.

Since Radio Wien, which also emerged from the old Ö2 , became a modern hit radio, Radio Niederösterreich has also been well positioned as a hit and oldie station on the highly competitive Viennese radio market, alongside Radio Arabella and Radio Burgenland . In the last few years, Radio Vienna in the Danube metropolis was just 5 - 10 percentage points ahead of Radio Lower Austria.

The ORF regional studio is located in St. Pölten . In addition to Radio Niederösterreich, the ORF Niederösterreich-Funkhaus also produces the daily television program Niederösterreich heute and the homepage noe.orf.at. In addition, TV documentaries, the regular TV magazine "Land und Menschen" as well as current radio and television reports are delivered to the central editorial offices of ORF.
