history

The station was founded in mid-2001, when the 2001 amendment to the media legislation made it possible for the first time to have a solid and dual broadcasting system with public and private broadcasting in Austria. In particular, the greater diversity of opinion and the consideration of the interests and needs of the population were taken into account. The name “Arabella” refers to Arabella Pongratz, the daughter of the Radio Arabella Munich founding partner Josef Schörghuber. Radio Arabella started on December 14, 2001 on FM 92.9.
