Aldrans is a municipality with 2723 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Innsbruck-Land district of the state of Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Innsbruck .

geography

Aldrans is located on the low mountain range in the southeast bordering Innsbruck . The name comes from the old field name Allrainer Veld , which was mentioned as Alrains in a document in 1312 .

Aldrans mainly has the function of a residential community due to its proximity to Innsbruck. At the edge of the village the tram line 6 passes with a stop, but more important for the public transport are regional buses of the low mountain range.

Community structure

The districts also belong to Aldrans:

The only Alm in the municipality is the Aldranser Alm .

history

Excavations near Aldrans show a settlement as early as the Late Bronze Age . Iron objects from the La Tène period and a Lombard coin treasure were also found, which suggests that the settlement will continue.

As an important place on the Salzstrasse , Aldrans is mentioned as the "locus Alarein" as the property of the bishops of Brixen as early as 995-1005 . In 1157 the Counts of Wolfratshausen , a sideline of the Counts of Andechs , donated their Aldrans property (referred to here as "Alreines" ) of meadows, pastures, mills, Schwaighöfen and alpine pastures to the Tegernsee Monastery . Aldrans formed a market community with Ampass as early as the Middle Ages. In the 13th and 14th centuries, most of the possessions in Aldrans belonged to either the Tyrolean sovereign or Wilten Abbey .

The people of Aldrans were famous for their enthusiasm for acting. Thus, Martinsspiele can be proven from the years 1750 and 1757. There was also an “Amazon Theater” in which only female actors took part, which was an absolute peculiarity at the time.

The cluster village spreads out on a terraced landscape. A village fire in 1893 almost completely destroyed the entire structure. The Aldrans transmitter was built on the outskirts of Aldrans in 1927 . The medium wave transmitter was intended for radio broadcasts. The system was later converted into a shortwave transmitter and dismantled in 1984.

coat of arms

Blazon : A black eagle's wing in gold , which is covered with a gold sea leaf drawn in above and directed downwards .

The municipal coat of arms was awarded in 1979 and commemorates the donation of the Counts of Andechs to the Tegernsee monastery in 1157. The eagle wing is reminiscent of the Andechs who had an eagle in their coat of arms, the lake leaf is taken from the coat of arms of the Tegernsee monastery.
