After Gruber resigned in October 2007 for health reasons, Johannes Marthe was chosen as the only candidate to succeed him in an election on January 20, 2008. Already in June 2009 all councilors resigned with the exception of the mayor, citing “massive disagreements” as the reason. The state of Tyrol appointed an official who prepared the new elections on October 4, 2009. The previous municipality board member, Hansjörg Haslwanter, took up the position of list leader of the previous village community unit list , while Marthe entered the race with the newly established WIR - important is Reith list . Roland Kluckner, the son of the former mayor of many years, Josef Kluckner, founded the FÜR REITH list and Dominik Hiltpolt entered the Neue Kraft Reith list .
From the mayoral election on October 4th, Johannes Marthe emerged as the clear winner with 44% of the vote. Hansjörg Haselwanter would have been his opponent for a runoff election, but he did without a second ballot.
At the municipal council, 5 seats are on the WIR list - the important thing is Reith from Mayor Marthe, 3 on the Neue Kraft Reith and 3 on the list FOR REITH .
