history
Early historical traces of the La Tène period were found on the Zauberbichl .
The place name, which comes from pre-Roman times, appears for the first time as “Miders” in the tradition book of the Ebersberg monastery and later as “Myeders” and “Miederes” at the turn of the year 1115/16 . It is probably derived from the Celtic “bidaras”, which means “settlement of small farms”. In 1392 Mieders is called Oblei (municipality).
From 1690 to 1797 and from 1826 to 1925 Mieders was the seat of the court for the Stubai Valley . In the 16th and 17th centuries, silver and iron mining was carried out in the Mühltal at the foot of the Serles .
Mieders was previously the seat and part of the Mieders judicial district , but was added to the Innsbruck judicial district on May 31, 1923.

The main town of the municipality is the village of Mieders . It is located about 11 kilometers south of Innsbruck city center . It lies on the shoulder of the Stubai Valley, on which Schönberg is also located, on the right (south) of the Ruetz. This begins to fall from the Stubai valley floor into the wooded Ruetz Gorge.
The clustered village next to Stubaitalstrasse B 183 comprises the majority of the community's population. It was settled in the early Middle Ages and has houses with baroque frescoes in the center.
The small neighboring village of Oweges out of the valley and Bachleiten are already largely grown together with Mieders.
To the south it extends from the Serlesbahn valley station beyond the Zirkenbach to Hinterhocheck at the beginning of the Mühltal . Behind the Mieders gravel plant , the industrial park near Fulpmes is starting to form a new district.
