Tyrolean spatial information system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tyrolean spatial information system ( TIRIS ) is the geographic information system of the state of Tyrol. In the administrative areas, geodata on spatial issues are systematically stored in the TIRIS data pool. This results in geographic information such as tirisMaps and geodata services for official and public use on the Internet.

The TIRIS spatial data infrastructure complies with the INSPIRE ( Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community ) EU directive implemented by the federal states of Austria in 2010 .

history

Beginnings (1991–1996)

  • In spring 1991, construction began with the establishment of the tiris spatial planning station, later also called tiris headquarters. This started this year with five employees with the digitization of cartographic administrative content. In all other administrative units of the state administration that work directly on a spatial basis, further such facilities equipped with GIS know-how should be created.
  • In 1993 the establishment and cooperation of tiris stations in other administrative areas of the state began.
  • In 1996, TIRIS initiated the contractually secured data exchange of precise spatial data with all Tyrolean municipalities.

Distribution on the Internet (1998-2003)

  • In 1998 the first tiris map services made it possible to access public geographic information on the Internet.
  • In 2003 the LAD conference commissioned the concrete cooperation between the federal states in geoland.at .

Expansion and data preparation (2005–2008)

  • In 2005, the integrated use of tiris data in special IT applications of the state administration began.
  • In 2007, the first steps to provide and use geodata were taken with the Tyrolean Information Further Use Act.
  • In 2008, tirisMaps, a geoportal with integrative access to all geographic information in the tiris data pool, was installed.

Present (since 2010)

  • In 2010, the Tyrolean Geodata Infrastructure Act triggered the implementation of INSPIRE.
  • In 2012, the establishment of a spatial data infrastructure began with the tourism organizations and the Tyrol location agency.
  • In 2013 the concept of cooperation and organization of tiris was updated and renewed.
  • In 2014 TIRIS significantly expanded its range of freely available open government data.

application areas

TIRIS applications offer access to specifically prepared geographic information . These include the

  • Local deployment information (OEI), which includes water extraction points and hazard warnings for the use of fire services
  • Spatially high-resolution solar potential maps for determining the solar potential at building level and the technology that is optimal for use
  • Various maps such as mountain bike maps, route tracks for a navigation system , route tracks for viewing in Google Earth , map overlays for route overview for digital maps
  • statistical data and cartographic representations of the Tyrolean districts, planning associations and regional management associations
  • spatial information on Tyrolean health statistics and the locations of health facilities
  • Cultural assets according to epochs and artists from the Tyrolean art register
