Monty Kip Sopp (born November 11, 1963 in Orlando , Florida ) is an American wrestler who became known under his ring name "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn and Mr. Ass mainly at the American market leader WWE . He is currently under contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a producer.

Career

Sopp started out as a professional bull rider at rodeos . From 1989 he became a professional wrestler after appropriate training. In 1993 he was able to sign a contract with the then World Wrestling Federation and from then on worked here under the name Billy Gunn . Together with his storyline brother Bart Gunn , he formed the team The Smokin 'Gunns . At the beginning of 1995 they were allowed to win the WWF Tag Team Championship and were able to win it again in September. After Sopp was injured, she was allowed to win the title again in May 1996.

After losing the third title, the team was dissolved and Sopp was given a new partner in Jesse James . Together they formed the New Age Outlaws . In November they too were allowed to receive the Tag Team title. Both members were later integrated into the D-Generation X group. In March 1999 Sopp was allowed to win the WWF Hardcore Championship and left the group shortly afterwards. Later there was a reformation of the New Age Outlaws , who were allowed to hold the tag team title for the fourth time.

After both rejoined the D-Generation X, they received the Tag Team Title for the fifth time. An injury meant a temporary break for Sopp. In 2001 he was allowed to win the hardcore title a second time , but lost it again a few minutes later. Together with Chuck Palumbo , Sopp was able to celebrate two more of his ten successes as Tag Team Champion .

On November 1, 2004, Sopp was released and went to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in February 2005 . Under the name Kip James he formed the Voodoo Kin Mafia here together with BG James . The stable was built as a counterpart to the D-Generation X of the WWE and parodied it regularly. The "One Million Dollar Challenge", which was about the fact that the VKM wanted to have a match against the DX that had not been agreed upon, was not answered by the DX / WWE.

As Cute Kip, he is a partner of Beautiful People.

On July 23, 2012 he had a guest appearance as Billy Gunn with the D-Generation X.

On January 26, 2014, he won the WWE Tag Team Championship at Royal Rumble with The Road Dogg . However, on March 3, 2014, the New Age Outlaws lost a title match against The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) on Raw and had to give up their titles again. At Wrestlemania XXX on April 6, 2014, Gunn was injured in a double-triple powerbomb by The Shield ( Dean Ambrose , Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins ) and suffered hemoptysis , which put him out of action by January 2015.

At Wrestlemania XXXI, Billy Gunn, The Road Dogg , Shawn Michaels and X-Pac reunited for the last time to form D-Generation X to support their former colleague and friend Triple H in his match against Sting . On November 13 of the same year, the WWE suspended Sopp after he had tested positive for substances that increase testosterone levels at a powerlifting event and had also been excluded from such competitions for 4 years.

Since December 2015, Gunn has been in various independent leagues such as MCW (Maryland Championship Wrestling) or PCW (Preston City Wrestling).
