WWE Hall of Fame
The WWE Hall of Fame is a hall of fame in wrestling that honors selected wrestlers or employees of the WWE as well as other influential people in the wrestling business. To date, 179 wrestling personalities have been inducted into the Hall of Fame and given four Warrior Awards .
history
In 1993 the then WWF Hall of Fame was founded with its first member, André René Roussimoff (André the Giant) , who had died a few months earlier. There was no ceremony for André René Roussimoff (André the Giant) in 1993. In contrast, WWF Superstars showed a single player with career highlights about his entry into the Hall of Fame . In the following years, the Hall of Fame was part of the King of the Ring weekend before it was paused until 2004. At WrestleMania XX, revived by the WWE , selected wrestlers, managers, ring announcers and commentators have been inducted into the Hall of Fame in a show that takes place the day before WrestleMania .
In the so-called “Celebrity Wing”, people who are not / were not full-time in the wrestling business, but who have already played a well-known and active role in the event, are also accepted. Pete Rose became the first famous non-full-time wrestling professional ( baseball professional) to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The first Warrior Award in 2015 went to the fan Connor "The Crusher" Michalek, who died of cancer at the age of 8. The award was created on the initiative of the recently deceased Hall of Famer s The Ultimate Warrior to honor those whose "lives were characterized by perseverance, strength, steadfastness and who embodied the indomitable will of the Ultimate Warrior". In the "Legacy" wing, WWE has been hosting wrestlers from the early years of wrestling since 2016, especially in the first half of the 20th century.
Ric Flair has been the first to be inducted into the Hall of Fame twice (alone and as a Four Horsemen member) since 2012 . Shawn Michaels (as a single wrestler and part of D-Generation X ), Booker T (as a single wrestler and part of Harlem Heat ) and Bret Hart (as a single wrestler and part of the Hart Foundation ) have also been two-time members since 2019 . On the evening that James Dudley was inducted into the Hall of Fame , he was informed of his admission shortly beforehand. Hulk Hogan was removed from the Hall of Fame on WWE.com in July 2015 when his contract was terminated without notice . So far, however, there has been no statement from WWE as to whether the move has been officially withdrawn. Hogan has been back in the Hall of Fame since 2018.
