Harlem Heat

Harlem Heat was a wrestling tag team made up of two brothers, Booker and Lane Huffman . Booker used Booker T as the ring name while Lane was known as Stevie Ray . Harlem Heat holds a record by winning the WCW World Tag Team Championship ten times, making it the most successful tag team in this promotion.

history

Beginnings

Booker and Lane began performing as a tag team for the first time under the name The Huffman Brothers in Ivan Putski's Western Wrestling Alliance . They then played in various independent leagues in Texas before joining the Global Wrestling Federation in 1992 . Here they appeared as The Ebony Experience and were quite successful with three wins in the GWF Tag Team Championship . After their last title reign there, the brothers were able to secure a contract with the internationally represented Promotion World Championship Wrestling .

WCW

In August 1993 she made her debut as Harlem Heat in the WCW. Booker was first named Kole and Lane became Kane . They have now been announced from Harlem . In 1994 they were given Sherri Martel as their manager and both were renamed Booker T and Stevie Ray again. In December they received their first of ten WCW World Tag Team Championships . After Harlem Heat had lost the title to the Nasty Boys in the meantime, the second reign as Tag Team Champions began in June 1995. In the course of a feud against Dick Slater and Jimmy Golden , they lost the title again, but were able to record two more title wins in 1995.

In 1996 the team remained successful as Tag Team Champions through two more reigns. 1997 manager Sherri left Harlem Heat and was replaced by Jaqueline . During a break from injury Ray, Jaqueline also left the team, so that Booker played as a single wrestler matches for a while. However, after Ray returned, there was no reformation from Harlem Heat. Instead, Ray was turned against Booker and he became a member of the New World Order group .

The Reformation took place in mid-1999 and the team won the Tag Team title again in August after two years. After the last title win in 2000 was followed by the accession of Midnight to Harlem Heat, after which Ray loud storyline again against his brother and Midnight turned and together with the wrestlers Big T , Kash and J. Biggs, the grouping Harlem Heat 2000 founded. However, this was dissolved again in June of that year.
