Anthony White (born April 23, 1954 in Roanoke , Virginia , United States , ring name Tony Atlas ) is a retired American wrestler , bodybuilder and powerlifter . He has been a member of the WWE Hall of Fame since 2006 .
Career
White was very successful in his early days, becoming Mr. Teenage Virginia in bodybuilding, Virginia champion in powerlifting and Virginia State champion in wrestling in 1974 . In the same year he also began to wrestle professionally, but still did bodybuilding and powerlifting.
In his wrestling career he competed for both the wrestling umbrella organization NWA , the WCW and the then World Wrestling Federation .
His greatest achievement here was winning the WWF Tag Team title with Rocky Johnson and the fact that he was the first to legally defeat Hulk Hogan in the WWF. But he was also successful in other sports. Including the titles Mr. USA and AAU Mr. Universe in bodybuilding, as well as several powerlifting titles. White was after his engagement as Saba Simba in 1991 in the WWF, as well as a short guest appearance at the WCW a year later, still occasionally active as a wrestler in the independent leagues of the United States, but mainly focused on his job as a fitness and Wrestling trainer.
He has been a member of the WWE Hall of Fame since 2006 . Since July 8, 2008 he has appeared regularly at World Wrestling Entertainment as a companion to Mark Henry , occasionally playing matches himself. After joining RAW, Henry became an announcer for the Abraham Washington Show . After the dissolution of the ECW , he was no longer seen on television. On April 30, 2010, White was fired from the WWE.
Since April 17, 2014, White can be seen as a participant in the show "WWE Legends'House" on the WWE Network.
