World Wrestling Council , WWC for short , is the name of a Puerto Rican wrestling promotion . The promoters are Carlos Colón Sr. and Victor Jovica .
WWC has a weekly TV format that is broadcast by the station WAPA-TV.
history
The history of the promotion begins in 1973 when wrestlers Carlos Colón and Victor Jovica return to Puerto Rico.
Foundation of the CSP as a WWWF affiliate
Both had been working for the US promotion NWA Capitol Wrestling for a long time and so they put up the banner Capitol Sports Promotions (CSP) . This was an affiliate of the World Wide Wrestling Federation and its parent company, the Capitol Wrestling Corporation .
Joined the National Wrestling Alliance
The CSP was now a development territory of the WWWF and so Gorilla Monsoon , one of the chief executives of the WWWF, was registered as a co-owner. In the same year, CSP became an associate promotion of the National Wrestling Alliance under the banner NWA Puerto Rico .
Cooperation with the World Wrestling Federation
In the 1980s, CSP was a career springboard for later top stars of the World Wrestling Federation . So was Bret Hart for a while worked for this promotion when he the father's promotion left in the direction of WWF and in this decade, Monsoon withdrew from the CSP.
Re-organizing in “World Wrestling Council” and cooperation with World Wrestling Entertainment
In 1995 CSP was reorganized into the World Wrestling Council and the WWC left the NWA. From 1999 the doctorate competed with the IWA Puerto Rico .
The promotion's good connections with World Wrestling Entertainment still exist today. The WWE superstars Carlito and Primo come from the WWC and regularly appear there with other WWE stars.
Former WWF superstar Scott Hall was also committed to WWC for a while and was prepared by the latter for his possible wrestling comeback.
