Scott Oliver Hall (* 20th October 1958 in St. Mary's County , Maryland ) is a US -American wrestler . He was best known in the mid-1990s as Razor Ramon in the World Wrestling Federation .

Hall's greatest successes included receiving the WWF Intercontinental Champion title four times and the WCW World Tag Team title seven times . Behind the scenes he was a member of the then WWF group "Kliq", which had a major influence on the management and thus on the career progress of its members.

When Hall had moved from WWF to WCW , he became one of the first members of the wrestling table nWo , which emerged from the team "The Outsiders" ( Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) under his real name .

Private life

Scott Hall's father was a United States Army officer . When he was transferred to Ramstein in the 1970s , Scott Hall attended the American High School in Munich .

When his family moved to the United States, he attended St. Mary's College in Maryland , where he studied medicine. With the graduation he wanted to work as a pediatrician. By this time he was already training regularly and starting to work on a career as a professional wrestler.

Scott Hall was married to Dana Lee Burgio twice. From this marriage his two children were born. The relationship broke up because of Hall's recurring drug and alcohol problems. He has been married to Jessica Hart since 2006 and had drug and alcohol withdrawal behind him. In 2007 he relapsed and was most recently in a rehabilitation program offered by the WWE.

In early 2013, it was revealed that Hall, with the help of Diamond Dallas Page and Jake Roberts, is trying to stay dry and get his personal and physical problems under control.

Wrestling career

Beginnings

Scott Hall never applied to a league or an organizer. Instead, chance helped him get his first engagement as a wrestler: The wrestler Barry Windham discovered him while shopping in a supermarket . He was trained by Dusty Rhodes and made his debut with his new partner Dan Spivey as a tag team called "American Starship" in the Jim Crockett Promotions . His ring name at the time was Starship Coyote .

American Wrestling Association / National Wrestling Alliance

Hall evolved and moved to the American Wrestling Association . The owner of this promotion, Verne Gagne , was still suffering from the loss of Hulk Hogan , who had moved to the World Wrestling Federation . Gagne now decided to build Hall similar to Hulk Hogan before. Hall grew a mustache and performed wrestling acts very similar to Hogan's. Together with Curt Hennig he was finally allowed to hold the " AWA World Tag Team Championship ".

In 1989 he moved to NWA World Championship Wrestling , because the AWA had decided not to further promote Hall and then gave him no more title chances.

In the summer of 1989, Jim introduced Ross Hall to the audience. Along with Brian Pillman and Sid Vicious , he was now one of the new rising stars of the Promotion World Championship Wrestling .

In 1991, NWA World Championship Wrestling separated from their umbrella organization and now formed the independent promotion World Championship Wrestling .

World Championship Wrestling / World Wrestling Federation

Scott Hall aka Razor Ramon as Intercontinental Champion

Hall was taken over by WCW and its gimmick was converted into that of Diamond Studd . He was given Diamond Dallas Page as a ring companion. But here too he was denied great title chances. He drew the consequences from this and in 1992 accepted an offer from the then World Wrestling Federation.

Hall appeared in the WWF with his new ring name Razor Ramon . His gimmick of " exile - Cuban " was the character Tony Montana and Manny Ray from the movie Scarface inspired. He symbolized the typical "bad guy" who, despite his bad behavior in the ring, was able to win the sympathy of the fans. His trademarks were the three-day beard, a toothpick in the corner of his mouth and an attached Cuban accent .

Hall worked his way up and got to work with "Macho Man" Randy Savage , Shawn Michaels , Diesel and other big league stars. At Wrestlemania 10 he faced Shawn Michaels in a half-hour ladder match . Their performance was rewarded with the award "Match of the Year 1994" and was also the first WWF match to receive the highest rating of five stars from wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer .

He was the first wrestler to receive the WWF Intercontinental Champion title four times. Along with Triple H , Kevin Nash , Sean Waltman and Shawn Michaels , he was a member of the infamous Kliq, which exerted a huge influence on the league board behind the scenes. As a member of this group, he was also involved in the so-called "Curtain Call" that took place in Madison Square Garden in 1996: Hall and Nash's departure to the rival league WCW was already a deal behind the scenes. That night, both of them had their last appearance as crowd favorites and each competed against the villains Triple H and Shawn Michaels. After the show ended, they broke the wrestling industry's code of honor, known as the Kayfabe , by saying goodbye to everyone in the ring. As Hall and Nash left the WWF and Michaels could not be suspended as reigning champion, only Triple H was punished for this violation.

World Championship Wrestling / Extreme Championship Wrestling

In 1996 he returned to World Championship Wrestling under his real name , where he and Kevin Nash played the tag team "The Outsiders". At that time, WCW, under the direction of Eric Bischoff , was working on a new concept for the shows. Hall and Nash, as former WWF stars, were supposed to help symbolize a hostile takeover. In doing so, they repeatedly attacked the stars of the WCW, such as Lex Luger , Sting or Randy Savage . It was precisely these three WCW stars that the two "infiltrators" were challenged to a 6-man tag team match at the 1996 WCW Bash at the Beach .

It was clear to the management of the league at the time that a radical step had to be taken in order to be able to compete with the WWF. As the career of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan slowly stagnated after more than 12 years as a crowd favorite, they dared to change their minds. Wrestling fans were shocked when Hogan emerged as the hitherto unknown third man alongside Hall and Nash. This formation was henceforth known as the new World order (nWo) and ensured the beginning of the so-called “ Monday Night Wars ”, a quota war between the two big wrestling organizations WCW and WWF. The "Outsiders" received the WCW World Tag Team Title several times and Scott Hall was also successful as an individual wrestler. He was twice WCW United States Champion . Although he could have received the " World Heavyweight Champion " as well, he was denied major title wins because of constant alcohol and drug problems . Management sent Hall on several occasions to get his personal problems under control. When all efforts failed, Scott Hall was released from his contract.

For the 10th and 11th November 2000 Hall was signed by the ECW for a few matches.

World Wrestling Entertainment / NWA Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

When the WCW was taken over by the WWE, the “nWo” with Hall was reformed from February 2002, but this was already dismissed in May 2002 because of his backstage behavior.

Between June 2002 and the beginning of 2005 he was active at TNA , with some long interruptions . However, Hall became unreliable and so his contract was not renewed. Hall was now taking time out to heal his ailing health.

World Wrestling Council / Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

Hall returned to wrestling in Puerto Rico in 2007 as Razor Ramon for the League's World Wrestling Council . He got a WWC Champions Title match against Carlito , which he won.

Kevin Nash campaigned for TNAW in late 2007 to re-engage Hall. The plan was to revive the tag team The Outsiders . Time and again - as part of the storyline - Nash dropped the name of his former partner when iMPACT!

Scott Hall signed a 4 month contract. On November 8th, 2007 he made his official comeback on “TNA iMPACT!” And appeared with his typical three-day beard and a toothpick in the corner of his mouth. Hall has now been announced for the PPV "TNA Turning Point" taking place on December 2, 2007 as part of the main event. He stayed away from the event and had to be replaced by Eric Young in the main match . Samoa Joe berated Hall before the match with the words: "Scott Hall, Chico ... you can me. You've screwed it up, and you're an idiot! " . Hall had apologized to TNA by saying that he was suffering from food poisoning and could not compete.

The TNA leadership was outraged by Hall's behavior. Failure to do so meant a considerable financial loss for the doctorate. Kevin Nash himself criticized his friend's behavior after the event. Hall's contract was therefore not extended.

In 2009 Scott Hall was negotiating with the Indy PhD IWA East-Coast for engagement.

On January 4, 2010, Hall returned, together with Sean Waltman , as part of a storyline back to TNA and on May 4, 2010 he was allowed to win the TNA World Tag Team titles together with Kevin Nash . But due to the well-known alcohol problems, an incident in mid-May, Hall was released by TNA in mid-June 2010.

Hall was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 5, 2014, with Kevin Nash as the presenter.
