Barry Clinton Windham (born July 4, 1960 in Sweetwater , Texas ) is a retired American wrestler .
Career
Beginnings and WWF
Barry Windham's father is the former wrestler Robert Windham and that's how he came into contact with this type of entertainment as a child. He was trained by his father and Harley Race and finally made his debut in Florida in 1980. With his brother-in-law Mike Rotunda , he formed the U.S. tag team from the mid-1980s. Express in the WWF . Together they were able to win the WWF World Tag Team Title twice there .
NWA
In 1986, Barry Windham joined the National Wrestling Alliance . There he was allowed to win the NWA United States Tag Team Championships in a team with Ronnie Garvin . They had their biggest feud as a team with the Midnight Express . In spring 1987 they had to lose the tag team title to Ivan Koloff and Dick Murdoch . Then the team was dissolved and Windham feuded with Ric Flair . Later Windham was allowed to win the Western States Heritage Championship . His reign lasted until January 1988, when he lost the title to Larry Zbyszko. In March he won the NWA World Tag Team title together with Lex Luger . He then replaced Ole Anderson and became a member of the legendary group The Four Horsemen alongside Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson .
After he left the stable , he received the NWA United States Heavyweight Title after defeating Nelson Scott Simpson ( Nikita Koloff ) . After he had to pass the title on to Lex Luger in 1989 , he formed a tag team with Dustin Rhodes . In 1989, Windham moved back to the WWF and started as The Widow Maker . But he returned to WCW in 1990. Here he was again a member of the Four Horsemen. He feuded along with Arn Anderson against Team Doom and then with Dustin Rhodes against Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko. In the spring of 1992, Windham feuded against Steve Austin .
In autumn 1992 he and Rhodes were allowed to win the NWA World Tag Team Titles together and hold them for 2 months. Barry Windham reached the high point of his career in 1993 when he won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a match against the Great Muta . Less than five months later he had to lose the title to Ric Flair. He then took a two-year hiatus.
WWF / E and WCW
In 1996 he returned to WWF as The Stalker . In 1997 he formed a short-lived tag team with John Bradshaw Layfield as The New Blackjacks . 1999 Windham moved back to World Championship Wrestling . There he had feud programs with Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko . During this time, Windham was allowed to win the WCW Tag Team Titles twice. 2000 Windham left the WCW and appeared in independent leagues until his end of career in 2004. Since May 2006 he has been employed as a producer in the WWE.
