The United States Wrestling Association (USWA) is a former American wrestling association . It existed between 1989 and 1997 and was founded by Jerry Jarret and Jerry Lawler . The seat of this wrestling association was Memphis , Tennessee .
history
The history of the USWA began in 1989, when the Continental Wrestling Association , World Class Wrestling Association and the American Wrestling Association joined forces with several minor leagues and thus the attempt was made to establish a third national wrestling in addition to the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. Establish organization.
However, this alliance did not last long and so the new league began to be built around the owners' sons, Jeff Jarrett and Brian Christopher. However, this had the consequence that many wrestlers in this league made an engagement with the WWF and left the USWA. In the end, the USWA was viewed as the WWF's farm league, especially since it had promised the WWF through contracts that the World Wrestling Federation was allowed to bring its offspring from the ranks of the USWA.
But when the multiple USWA champion Jeff Jarrett signed with the WWF in 1993, the league was considered inactive and was closed in November 1997.
