World Class Wrestling Association
World Class Wrestling Association (WCWA), also known as World Class Championship Wrestling , was an American wrestling promotion . It was founded by Fritz von Erich and managed until 1987. In 1987 Von Erichs Sons, Kerry and Kevin von Erich took over the management of the doctorate. This league was based in Dallas , Texas .
The doctorate was closed in 1991.
history
The history of this wrestling league began in 1966 when Morris Sigel, a co-owner of the wrestling promotion "Southwest Sports", sold his share of the promotion to Paul Boesch and Fritz von Erich. The two reorganized this portion and joined the National Wrestling Alliance as NWA Big Time Wrestling . Von Erich became president of the new league.
In April 1982, Big Time Wrestling was renamed World Class Championship Wrestling . In 1986 there was another name change and the exit from the umbrella organization of the NWA. The wrestling promotion was now called the World Class Wrestling Association and as early as 1988 the WCWA began to work with the Continental Wrestling Association and the American Wrestling Association . These three promotions later formed the United States Wrestling Association . The alliance did not last long, however, since Kevin Von Erich withdrew from the USWA in 1991 and closed his league.
