Eastern Championship Wrestling Television Championship (1992-1994)
The ECW World Television Championship was the second-highest single-Wrestlers title Wrestling - promotion Extreme Championship Wrestling . It was introduced on August 12, 1992 under the title Eastern Championship Wrestling Television Championship . As is common in wrestling, the title was given as part of a storyline . The addition "Television" in the name referred to the fact that the title was only awarded in the context of television appearances or Pay Per Views .
The ECW World Television Championship was created at the time of the predecessor Eastern Championship Wrestling, which belonged to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). It originated alongside the ECW Championship , the main title of the promotion. The first champion was Johnny Hotbody , who won the title against Larry Winters in August 1992 . When Eastern Championship Wrestling broke away from the NWA in 1994, the promotion changed its name to Extreme Championship Wrestling and the Eastern Championship Wrestling Television Championship became the Extreme Championship Wrestling Television Championship. The title was continued until April 11, 2001. Subsequently, ECW filed for bankruptcy and ceased to exist as an independent doctorate. The longest reigning champion was Rob Van Dam .
When World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) acquired the rights to Extreme Championship Wrestling in 2006 and hosted its own ECW show alongside WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown , they enlivened the ECW Championship, but not the television title. However, the ECW Television Championship is run on the WWE official website. However, a title win that is listed in the table below will not be recognized.
