He is better known by his ring name Rhino , formerly Rhyno . His greatest achievement to date is winning the ECW World Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship . Terry Gerin is a dry alcoholic .

Wrestling career

Beginnings

Terry Gerin was trained by Scott D'Amore, among others, and began his career in 1994 under the name Terry Richards in regional leagues in Michigan, and as a designated loser ( jobber ) in the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE ). Gerin later appeared as Rhino Richards mostly in Canada , where he also wrestled with Jason Reso and Adam Copeland .

Extreme Championship Wrestling (1999-2001)

Extreme Championship Wrestling signed Gerin in 1999 and let him compete under the name Rhino together with Steve Corino for the ECW World Tag Team Championship . He later feuded against The Sandman . After Rhino had lost the final in the tournament for the ECW World Television Championship to Super Crazy in March 2000 , he won the title a month later from Yoshihiro Tajiri . Just a few days after losing the title to Kid Kash in August, he got him back from the same.

The feud against the Sandman lasted for months. The Sandman was able to secure the ECW World Heavyweight Championship from Steve Corino in early January 2001 , but immediately after the match, Rhino defeated his rival in a squash match and became the new champion. Rhino then combined the World Title and the Television Title, creating the ECW Unified World Heavyweight Championship. He remained the title holder until the ECW went bankrupt in April 2001.

World Wrestling Federation / Entertainment (2001-2005)

Directly after the dissolution of the ECW Terry Gerin was hired by the WWF (now WWE). Together with Kurt Angle and his former companions Edge and Christian , he formed the stable team RECK under the name Rhyno . During 2001, Rhyno won the WWF Hardcore Championship three times . In July he allied himself with other former ECW wrestlers, who in turn teamed up with former WCW wrestlers to form the stable The Alliance . In the following years the Alliance feuded against representatives of the WWF in the course of the invasion storyline . In November, Rhyno had to undergo neck surgery and was on leave for 13 months. In the storyline, his time out was explained by the fact that he was temporarily suspended from the Alliance after losing to Kurt Angle. In this match Rhyno also lost his WCW United States Championship , which he had recently won by Tajiri .

After his return to the league now renamed World Wrestling Entertainment, Rhyno teamed up with Chris Benoit and lost with him at WrestleMania XIX to the WWE Tag Team Champions Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas . In July 2003 he was doing gymnastics against his partner and now mainly performed at SmackDown! for the WWE United States Championship. After moving to RAW in spring 2004, Rhyno teamed up with Tajiri.

At a party after WrestleMania 21, Terry Gerin got into an argument with his still-wife over custody of their daughter and rioted in the course of the argument in the lobby of a hotel. He was then fired from the WWE and only appeared at the first ECW One Night Stand in June 2005 for the league.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2005-2010)

In July 2005, Rhino made his TNA debut and attacked the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion Raven . As a result, he joined the stable planet Jarrett . At Bound for Glory 2005 Rhino won a Gauntlet Match , which earned him another title match. On the same evening he had already defeated Jeff Hardy, Chris Parks and Sabu in a Monter's Ball Match . In his third match on the show, Rhino eventually defeated title holder Jeff Jarrett to become the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion . Two weeks later, Rhino had to win the title in a two-hour special edition of TNA iMPACT! return to Jarrett.

In July 2006, Rhino burned the belt of the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, which he had retained as the last title holder after the bankruptcy of the ECW, in a barrel filled with burning oil. Since the WWE, as the owner of the ECW trademarks , had threatened legal action, the belt remained The belt, however, is hidden in a linen sack. However, he later admitted that the burned belt was a replica and that he still owns the original belt. This happened due to the alignment of the new ECW in the WWE.

After that there were several minor feuds for Rhino. He joined the Frontline (stable from "young" TNA Superstars) and feuded with the Frontline against the Main Event Mafia . He denied his last feud against Rob van Dam . On December 6, 2010, he made his last appearance for TNA Wrestling.

Ring of Honor (2011-2013)

After some appearances in the independent scene, he made his debut for Ring of Honor on June 13, 2011 as a member of The Embassy .

Return to TNA Wrestling (2014-2015)

On June 20, 2014, Rhino returned to TNA during Impact Wrestling tapings when he attacked Bully Ray on behalf of Ethan Carter III to help him win a table match.

Return to WWE (2015-2019)

In February 2015, Gerin surprisingly returned to WWE when he won a match against Elias Samson in the WWE NXT Development League . On December 7th of that year, Rhyno appeared again on the main show RAW. On September 11, 2016 at wwe Backlash he won a tournament with Heath Slater and was the first to win the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship , this reign lasted 84 days and then finally lost the title to The Wyatt Family consisting of Bray Wyatt , Randy Orton and Luke Harper on December 4th, 2016 at Tables, Ladders & Chairs . Since then they have only played individual tag team matches with each other, but they stayed away from another big spot. As part of the Superstar ShakeUps 2018, Gerin and his tag team partner drafted Raw , here too they only worked individual matches.

Second return to impact wrestling (since 2019)

On July 7, 2019, Rhino returned to Impact Wrestling (formerly Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) at Slammiversary XVII in black disguise and black mask and attacked Michael Elgin.
