Wrestling career

World Wrestling Entertainment (since 2009)

Florida Championship Wrestling and The Nexus (2009-2011)

Rotunda made his debut in the WWE Development League Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in April 2009 under the name Alex Rotundo . He later appeared as Duke Rotundo and was allowed to win the Florida Tag Team Championship with his brother Taylor, who was known as Bo Rotundo .

From June 2010 Rotunda took part with his mentor Cody Rhodes in the second season of WWE NXT as Husky Harris , which he finished in 4th place. On October 3, 2010, he made his Hell in a Cell debut on major WWE shows. He subsequently appeared on Raw as a member of The Nexus , a stable made up of other former NXT participants.

In March 2011 Rotunda returned to FCW in the development department of WWE. At first he played the character of Axel Mulligan , who wore a hockey mask , but never made it into the FCW TV shows. Instead, he worked again as Husky Harris with his brother Bo and was able to win the Florida Tag Team Championship with him a second time. From April 2012 Rotunda appeared as Bray Wyatt .

The Wyatt Family (2012-2017)

Bray Wyatt as the leader of the Wyatt Family at WrestleMania XXX .

A short time later, the WWE revised its development area and renamed Florida Championship Wrestling to WWE NXT . There Rotunda continued to appear as Bray Wyatt and embodied the leader of a vicious hillbilly cult that sees itself more as a monster than a human. In November 2012 this was joined by the characters Luke Harper and Erick Rowan . With these Rotunda emerged as the leader of the Wyatt Family . Harper and Rowan held the NXT Tag Team Championship together .

After announcement films had been recorded on the WWE shows in the previous weeks, the Wyatt Family debuted on Raw on July 8, 2013 with an attack against Kane . The feud with him resulted in a Ring of Fire match between Rotunda and Kane at SummerSlam . Feuds followed against Kofi Kingston , Daniel Bryan , who briefly joined the Wyatt Family, John Cena and Chris Jericho . During a six-week absence from WWE TV, short sequences were repeatedly played in the shows, in which the separation of the Wyatt Family was explained. At the pay-per-view Hell in a Cell on October 26, 2014, Rotunda finally returned without his Wyatt Family when he intervened in the main event between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose . With the latter he subsequently took up a program. At WrestleMania 31 , Rotunda met The Undertaker . In the context of this feud he characterized himself as the new "face of fear". At Battleground on July 19, 2015, Luke Harper rejoined Rotunda when he intervened in a match between him and Roman Reigns .

On August 24, 2015, Braun Strowman made his debut as the new third member of the Wyatt Family. Erick Rowan also returned as a member of the group on October 19, 2015 after an injury break. At the WWE Draft 2016 on July 19, 2016, all members of the Wyatt Family, except Braun Strowman, were drafted to SmackDown . Braun Strowman left the stable with the draft. In mid-August 2016, Rotunda began a feud against Randy Orton . Over the course of the feud, Orton joined the Wyatt Family. On December 4th, 2016 at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs , Rotunda and Orton won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship from Heath Slater and Rhyno . The Wyatt Family was allowed to defend the title under the Freebird Rule , which Luke Harper was also the title holder. Erick Rowan has been on pause again since October 2016 after shoulder surgery. On December 27, 2016, they lost the SmackDown title to American Alpha ( Chad Gable and Jason Jordan).

At Elimination Chamber on February 12, 2017, Rotunda received the WWE Championship from John Cena when he last eliminated AJ Styles in an Elimination Chamber match . In the run-up to WrestleMania 33 , Randy Orton and Luke Harper were separated from the Wyatt Family. At WrestleMania 33 on April 2, 2017, Rotunda lost the WWE Championship to Randy Orton.

Deleters of Worlds and Time Out (2017-2018)

On April 10, 2017, Rotunda moved from the SmackDown to the Raw squad. In April 2018, he formed the Deleters of Worlds tag team with Matt Hardy after having fought a feud program with him in the months before. The team received the Raw Tag Team Championship at the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27, 2018 . On July 15, 2018, at Extreme Rules , they gave the title to The B-Team (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel ). After Matt Hardy had been out of work due to an injury since September 2018, Rotunda also took a break at the end of the year.

Returns as The Fiend (since 2019)

In April 2019, Rotunda returned to WWE as the remodeled Bray Wyatt in a series of show segments set up like a television series for preschoolers. Here he plays the exaggerated friendly moderator of the Firefly Fun House . In contrast, the segments contain content from the horror genre, in which Rotunda shows a second, monstrous side of his character. He appears as The Fiend , a sinister figure with a horror mask, blonde dreadlocks and black gloves. The Fiend was in the ring for the first time on July 15, 2019 when he attacked Finn Bálor . On August 11, 2019, he won the first match in his new gimmick against Finn Bálor at SummerSlam. As part of the WWE Draft, Rotunda switched from Raw to SmackDown on October 11, 2019. On October 31, 2019, he won the WWE Universal Championship in a Falls Count Anywhere match against Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel . Since his return in April, Rotunda has only appeared in the ring as The Fiend, while in his unmasked role as host of the Firefly Fun House he only appeared in backstage segments and promos. On December 15, 2019 at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, he also played his first match in his unmasked persona when he was allowed to defeat The Miz . On February 27, 2020, he lost his WWE Universal Championship to Goldberg . On August 23, 2020, he won the WWE Universal Championship from Braun Strowman. The reign lasted 7 days and lost the title, ultimately to Roman Reigns.
