Outside of the US, the show continues to run on their respective channels. The show made its debut in the United States on February 23, 2010. ProSieben Fun usually shows the current edition of NXT every Friday from 8:15 pm to 9:05 pm .
history
formation
On 2 February 2010, was WWE - Chairman Vince McMahon announced that ECW will be replaced with a new show. The name of the new show was announced on February 4th, and in a press release, WWE revealed the format of the show.
However, this name was already used by the NWA graduation Scottish Wrestling Alliance. Both parties ultimately agreed that the SWA would hand over the rights to the WWE.
Original format
The content of the show was a tournament lasting several weeks. How the participating wrestlers arrive with the audience and which wrestlers have to progress to a show or leave the show was determined in a wrestling storyline before each episode . Accordingly, this show was pure fiction .
The first four episodes of Season 3 of WWE NXT were still shown on Syfy . By switching channels on SmackDown from MyNetworkTV to Syfy, the remaining episodes will be shown on the WWE website.
This season the theme is Redemption . Rookies who have already participated in a previous season will be given another chance. The winner was originally supposed to get a right to participate in the 6th season of NXT. However, this was discarded over the course of the season. The season ended with no result on June 13, 2012.
In the course of the fifth season, however, the concept was discarded and from then on the show also featured wrestlers from other shows who played matches and were tied in storylines. Since then, NXT has been more of a normal wrestling show (like SmackDown or Raw ) than an interactive "game show".
Current format
In May 2012 the format of the show was revised. On May 17, 2012, NXT was recorded at Full Sail University in Winter Park , Florida , not before SmackDown , in order to better involve the wrestlers from FCW in the shows and to get a better atmosphere at the tapings. WWE announced on June 13th that the new version of NXT will be available online from Wednesday June 20th on WWE.com and YouTube . However, on June 19, all NXT footage was removed from the website and the show aired exclusively on Hulu . On February 27, 2014, WWE began broadcasting the show on the WWE Network .
On December 20, 2017, a one-hour special was broadcast on the USA Network . In August 2019, WWE announced that NXT would be broadcast permanently as a two-hour live program on the USA Network. Reruns will be available on the WWE Network the following day.
