Ronald "Ron" Killings (born January 19, 1972 in Atlanta , Georgia ), better known by his stage name Ron "The Truth" Killings or R-Truth , is an American wrestler and rapper . He is currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ) and appears regularly on their TV shows. His greatest successes to date are winning the NWA World Heavyweight Championship twice .

Life

Killings was born in Atlanta and raised in Charlotte , North Carolina . Killings played football while in high school but turned down a college scholarship because he preferred a career as a musician.

After leaving school at 16, Killings tried drug trafficking to finance a music career. However, he was arrested and sentenced to 13 months in prison.

After he was free again, he took a normal job. He later met Jim Crockett, an employee of the National Wrestling Alliance . This convinced Killings after some time to start a career as a wrestler.

Killings married Pamela Killings on April 7, 2011. Their daughter was born on November 15, 2014. He also has four children from previous relationships.

Wrestling career

Independent leagues

1997 Killings made his debut in the Promotion Pro Wrestling Federation and was initially only used as a ring companion for various wrestlers, as he had received the gimmick of a manager. In 1999 Killings made his active wrestling debut in the NWA Wildside when he competed under the ring name K-Crush . Here he won the newly formed NWA Wildside Television Championship in December of the same year . In 2002 Killings started under the ring name K. Malik Shabazz at Xtreme Pro Wrestling for a short time . There he formed the stable The New Panthers with Salid Jihad and Raphael Muhammed . After a few matches, Killings changed his doctorate again when he signed with NWA / TNA.

World Wrestling Federation (1999-2002)

In 2000 Killings signed a development contract for two years with what was then World Wrestling Entertainment (WWF) and was sent to the Farm League Memphis Championship Wrestling . In April 2000 he won a Battle Royal for the vacant MCW Southern Heavyweight Championship , but lost that title to Jerry Lawler in May . From August to November, Killings won the title again.

After a relatively short time in the MCW he made his debut in the main squad of the WWF at the side of Road Dogg , with whom he formed a tag team for a short time until his partner was suspended because of drug problems. In February 2001, Killings won the WWF Hardcore Championship in a match against Raven , but lost it on the same evening due to the 24/7 rule that applied at the time . Two days later he won this title again, but lost it again that evening. In 2001, Killings was fired from the WWF.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2002-2007)

From June 2002 Killings was employed by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling , where he initially competed under the ring name K-Crush before he was renamed Ron "The Truth" Killings due to a storyline . In August 2002 he won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship , which he lost again after a few title matches.

From May 2003 he formed the stable 3Live Kru together with Konnan and BG James . In November they won the vacant NWA World Tag Team Championship in a match against Simon Diamond, Johnny Swinger and Glenn Gilberti and held it until January 2004. In May 2004, Killings won again the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a Four Way Title match against AJ Styles , Raven and Chris Harris . In June he lost the title in a King of the Mountain match to Jeff Jarrett. In November 2004 Konnan and Killings won the NWA World Tag Team title as a tag team and held it until December 2004. He then completed various feuding programs . From March to April 2006 Killings formed the stable Sting's Warriors with AJ Styles and Rhino . After that, Killings formed a team with Lance Hoyt , but was sidelined in late 2006 due to injury.

Killings actively returned to the ring in June 2007. After a few appearances in the Mexican Asistencia Asesoría y Administración , he returned to TNA in August . Together with Adam "Pacman" Jones he won the TNA Tag Team titles from Kurt Angle and Sting in September . In October 2007 they lost the title to Styles and Tomko.

During a Japan tour of the TNA, Killings was fired because the doctorate was not satisfied with his performance.

Return to WWE (since 2008)

After seven years, Killings returned to World Wrestling Entertainment in January 2008 . The official WWE debut of Killings was on August 29, 2008, when he under the new ring name R-Truth in Smackdown took -Roster.

When WWE Draft 2010 on April 26, he moved to RAW . On May 24, 2010, he won the WWE United States Championship in a match against The Miz , after previous title holder Bret Hart voluntarily gave up the title. He lost the US title on June 14, 2010 again to The Miz in a match in which John Morrison and Zack Ryder were involved.

In late 2010, Killings coached and mentored NXT rookie Johnny Curtis, who ended up winning season 4. From August 22 to November 21, 2011, he formed an alliance with The Miz as The Awesome Truth . This broke when Killings was suspended for 30 days on November 22, 2011 for violating WWE's wellness policy.

On April 30, 2012 he won the WWE Tag Team Championship from Primo and Epico at RAW together with Kofi Kingston . They lost the titles at Night of Champions on September 16, 2012 to Daniel Bryan and Kane .

In 2016 and 2017 he formed the tag team The Golden Truth together with Goldust .

2018 won Truth with his partner Carmella (as The Fabulous Truth ), the second Season of Mixed Match Challenge and thereby got the starting number 30 at the Royal Rumble -Match 2019 as a "price". The final of the Mixed Match Challenge took place at the PPV TLC on December 16, 2018. Here The Fabulous Truth defeated the Mahalicia team, consisting of Alicia Fox and Jinder Mahal .

At the WWE Royal Rumble on January 27, 2019, however, he was attacked from behind on his way to the ring by Nia Jax , who then took his place in the men's Battle Royal. Two days later, on the SmackDown Show on January 29, 2019, Truth was awarded a match for the WWE United States Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura as compensation for missing participation in the Battle Royal , which he surprisingly won. Just minutes after his victory, he was challenged by Rusev , who had lost the title to Shinsuke Nakamura two days earlier at the WWE Royal Rumble. Truth was able to win this match as well, but was then attacked by Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev and knocked down. In the following SmackDown Live broadcasts, Truth started a US Championship Open Challenge and was initially able to defend the title in a Triple Threat Match against Andrade and Rey Mysterio . The next Open Challenge on March 5, 2019 was again answered by Rey Mysterio and Andrade , but also by Samoa Joe . A Fatal 4 Way Match followed. This match was won by Samoa Joe by pinning Andrade . Truth thus lost his title without being pinned himself after 35 days of reign.

On May 20, 2019, Raw , Truth won the newly introduced WWE 24/7 Championship from Robert Roode . This reign lasted 8 days and then finally lost the title to Elias in the SmackDown edition on May 28, 2019. Later that night, however, Truth was able to regain the title after Roman Reigns after the main event match of the SmackDown edition Elias the Spear missed and allowed Truth to cover, winning the 24/7 Championship for the second time. This reign lasted 5 days and then lost the title outside of the wrestling shows on a golf course to Jinder Mahal , but Truth was able to fight back the title within 11 seconds and thus begins his third reign, but it also ended after 2 days and lost the Title to Elias in the SmackDown edition of June 4, 2019, to win him back a few seconds to start his fourth reign. On June 6, 2019, an exclusive video was uploaded to the WWE YouTube channel showing how Truth was pinned by Jinder Mahal on an airport runway and lost his title. Another video released by the WWE just hours later shows Truth pinning the Mahal who fell asleep on the plane in order to regain the title and start his fifth reign. This reign lasted 12 days. He finally lost the title to Drake Maverick on June 18, 2019. On June 21, 2019, a video appeared on the WWE YouTube channel in which Truth stormed Drake Maverick's wedding to claim his sixth 24/7 title. Truth lost the title to Heath Slater on the June 24, 2019 edition of Raw and won it back shortly afterwards. Then he lost the title to Cedric Alexander . Shortly thereafter, he won the title of EC3 and thus achieved his eighth title. This reign ended on July 1, 2019, after he was pinned in the backstage area by Drake Maverick. He won his ninth reign of the title on July 15, 2019 after pinning Maverick in his hotel room. This reign ended after 7 days on July 22, 2019 after Maverick pinned him and thus removed the title. He began his tenth reign the same night after pinning Maverick. This reign ended after 7 days and lost the title to Mike Kanellis. His eleventh reign began on August 5, 2019 after he won the title from Mike Kanellis after pinning him in a practice. This reign lasted seven days and then lost the title The Revival, but it won back moments and thus started his twelfth reign. This ended that same night and lost the title to Elias, who surprised him in the backstage area. He started his 13th reign on August 24, 2019 when he pinned Elias on stage at a Fox Sport event. On the same day, however, he lost the title to Fox Sport producer Rob Stone, who surprisingly pinned him. His 14th reign began on September 3, 2019 after pinning Drake Maverick. This reign lasted 6 days and lost the title to Enes Kanter at the WWE Main Event. A few seconds later, however, he secured the title again and thus started his 15th reign on September 9, 2019. This reign lasted 7 days and lost the title to Kane , but he got it back from him that same night. The reign lasted until September 20, losing the title to EC3 at a house show in the Philippines in Manila . However, he won the title back that same night and thus began his 17th reign as champion. The reign lasted one day and lost the title again to EC3 at a house show in Shanghai , China , but won it again on the same night and thus crowned himself champion for the 18th time. The reign lasted one day and lost the title again to EC3 at a house show in Honolulu , Hawaii , but won it again on the same night and thus crowned himself champion for the 19th time. The reign lasted a day and lost the title to Carmella on September 23, 2019 . On October 6th, he won his 20th title after pinning Tamina, previously taking off Carmella Tamina. Truth moved from SmackDown to Raw on October 14, 2019 as part of the WWE Draft . The reign lasted 15 days and finally lost the title to Sunil Singh on October 21, 2019 at Mondaynightraw. On October 31, 2019, he won the title back from Singh at Crown Jewel. However, he lost the title to Samir Singh that same night. On November 18, 2019, he won the title of Samir Singh again after the edition of Mondaynightraw. On November 19, 2019, he lost the title to Michael Giacco, an employee of WWE. This happened at a meeting at WWE headquarters. On the same night, however, he won the title back through a contract signing. He lost the title to Kyle Busch on December 2, 2019 on the Raw edition. However, he won the title back from him that same night. On December 22, 2019 in New York he lost the WWE 24/7 Championship to Akira Tozawa during a recording for Monday nightraw , but he won it back from Santa Claus that same night. On December 26, 2019, he lost the title to Samir Singh. However, he won it back from Sunil Singh that same night. In the course of various live events he lost and won the title to the Sunil Brothers, but at the end of December 29, 2019 he won the title back and thus started his 29th reign. On December 31, 2019, Mojo Rawley lost the title , but won it back the same night. On January 13, 2020, he lost his title to Mojo Rawley. On January 17, 2020, he won the title back from Rawley at a WWE Live event, but lost it back to him. On January 18, 2020, he won the title back from Rawley at a WWE Live event, but lost it back to him. On January 19, 2020, he won the title back from Rawley at a WWE Live event, but lost it back to him. He won the title from Rawley on January 27, 2020, but lost it to him a few seconds later. On March 22nd he won the title for the 35th time, defeating Riddick Moss. However, he lost the title again on April 4, 2020 to Mojo Rawley. On June 1, 2020, he won the title from Rob Gronkowski . He lost the title to Akira Tozawa on June 22, 2020. On June 29, 2020, however, he was able to regain the title from Tozawa. However, he lost the title to Shelton Benjamin on July 20, 2020 . He won the title again on August 10, 2020, defeating Akira Tozawa.
