Andrade "Cien" Almas (born November 3, 1989 in Gómez Palacio , Durango ; actually Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza ) is a Mexican wrestler . He comes from a family closely connected with the wrestling business in Mexico and is himself a third generation wrestler, after his grandfather Jose Andrade (ring name "El Moro") and his father Jose Andrade Salas (ring name "Brillante"). He currently appears for World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ) on their show Raw .

His biggest success so far was winning the IWGP Intercontinental Championship once .

Wrestling career

Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre (2007-2015)

The first matches as a wrestler completed Manuel Andrade from 2003 in a local wrestling league, which was led by his family. Here he appeared, also following family tradition, as Brillante Jr. From 2007 he performed mainly for Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre . He was able to win his first title in the organization in the role of masked La Sombra in the same year: First the Mexican National Trios Championship together with El Sagrado and Volador Jr. on August 13th and a little later the NWA Welterweight Championship on August 27th. November. He was allowed to hold both titles for around a year and a half before he had to surrender them again in February and May 2009.

On September 18, 2015 Andrade lost his mask in a mask vs. mask match at CMLL 82. Aniversario against Atlantis and had to perform without it from then on.

New Japan Pro Wrestling (2010-2015)

From 2009, Andrade also rose increasingly for other promotions and especially for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the ring. On April 24, 2011 he was allowed to win the Azteca Championship at Lucha Libre Azteca from Valador Jr., who appears as Atlantis . He gave this back to Valador Jr. on September 25, 2011 after 154 days of reign. On May 31, 2013 he achieved his greatest success to date when he won the IWGP Intercontinental Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura at New Japan Pro Wrestling . After 50 days, on July 20, 2013, he returned the title to Nakamura.

World Wrestling Entertainment (since 2016)

NXT and NXT Champion (2016-2018)

At the beginning of 2016, Andrade moved to WWE . There he appeared on NXT and was initially given the new ring name Manny Andrade , which was changed to Andrade "Cien" Almas a few months later . Making its debut on NXT, during a house show on January 8, 2016 he was allowed Riddick Moss in a singles match defeat. On NXT TakeOver: Dallas , he completed a dark match against Oney Lorcan . He won his first match on a TV show on June 8, 2016 on NXT TakeOver: The End against Tye Dillinger . Then feuded it against Bobby Roode , which he on 20 August 2016 in a match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II , was defeated. In September 2016, he and Cedric Alexander took part in a tournament for tag teams called Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic , but the team was eliminated in the first round due to a loss to The Revival ( Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson ).

In NXT TakeOver: San Antonio on January 28, 2017, he suffered another major loss to Roderick Strong , as well as in NXT TakeOver: Orlando on April 1, 2017 against Aleister Black . From July 2017, Zelina Vega was assigned to him as a business manager , who often intervened in matches in his favor and generally appeared as his spokeswoman. Within the storyline , Andrade's recent defeat series has been transformed into a push for the next few months. A win over Johnny Gargano on NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III was followed by a feud against Drew McIntyre for the NXT Championship . He won the title on November 18, 2017 at NXT TakeOver: WarGames . After defending the title at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia against Gargano the day before, he made his debut on January 28, 2018 at the Royal Rumble in the match of the same name in the WWE main grid . He was allowed to eliminate Kofi Kingston before he was eliminated by Randy Orton . On April 7, 2018, he lost the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans to Aleister Black. In the NXT broadcast on April 18, 2018, Almas appeared as a ring companion for his manager Vega, who played her first and last individual match here, which was broadcast on NXT. This was also the last appearance of the two on NXT.

Main roster and feud against Mysterio (since 2018)

A little later, Andrades (and Zelina Vegas) were finally promoted to the main grid through the superstar Shake-Up in Wrestlemania . He made his debut match on SmackDown Live on May 15, 2018 against a local wrestler. Some feuds followed, first against Sin Cara , then against Rusev and Lana and Rey Mysterio . On January 15, 2019, his previous ring name was shortened to "Andrade". He was also involved in the title event for the United States Championship , but he was never able to secure the title.

As part of the 2019 Superstar Shake-Up, Andrade switched from SmackDown to Raw on April 15, 2019 .

Just a week after the Superstar Shake-Up 2019, Almas was moved back to the SmackDown roster, the reasons for this being that Andrade has a relationship with Charlotte Flair . He participated in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match on May 19, 2019, but did not win the match. On June 7, 2019, he lost a match for the Intercontinental Championship against Finn Bálor on Super ShowDown . As part of the WWE Draft, Andrade switched from SmackDown to Raw on October 14, 2019 .

In a live event on December 26, 2019, Andrade won the WWE United States Championship from Rey Mysterio . Andrade was banned from the WWE for 30 days on January 27, 2020 for violating anti-doping guidelines. He made his return on February 27, 2020 on WWE Super ShowDown. On May 25, 2020, he lost the United States Championship to Apollo Crews after a reign of 151 days .
