NXT TakeOver: WarGames was a WWE wrestling event that aired on the WWE Network . It took place on November 18, 2017 at the Toyota Center in Houston , Texas , United States . It was the 18th major NXT event under the name NXT TakeOver since February 2014 and the fifth in 2017. For the third time after NXT TakeOver: Dallas on April 1, 2016 and NXT TakeOver: San Antonio on January 28, 2017 one of them in the US state of Texas, but for the first time in Houston and at the Toyota Center.

In the run-up to the event, five matches were scheduled. This resulted from the storylines that in the weeks before NXT Takeover: WarGames at NXT , the weekly WWE Network broadcast show of the developmental league of the WWE, were shown.
The event was originally promoted as NXT TakeOver: Houston .

Matches
In the first match of the evening, Kassius Ohno met Lars Sullivan , who was performing for the first time at a major NXT event. Sullivan pinfall won after showing Ohno his finishing move Freak Accident . Then it came to the match between Aleister Black and The Velveteen Dream , which Black was able to defeat after a Black Mass .
The NXT Women's Championship , which has been vacant since the previous title holder Asuka was promoted to the main roster , was re-awarded in a fatal four-way match between Ember Moon , Kairi Sane , Peyton Royce and Nikki Cross . Sane was able to show her Insane Elbow against Royce and Cross in it, but a subsequent cover was interrupted by Moon. The latter finally put on a double Eclipse against Royce and Cross, pinned Cross and won the title, the belt of which was subsequently presented to her by Asuka.
Then again, Andrade Almas challenged title holder Drew McIntyre for the NXT Championship . Almas won after his ring companion Zelina Vega intervened in the match several times in his favor and he was able to show the La Sombra DDT .
Main Event
According to the name of the event, the main fight was a War Games match , a match in two rings enclosed by a cage, between the three teams SAnitY ( Alexander Wolfe , Eric Young and Killian Dain ), Roderick Strong and The Authors of Pain ( Akam and Rezar ) and The Undisputed Era ( Adam Cole , Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly ).
The respective leaders of the teams Adam Cole, Eric Young and Roderick Strong began in the ring. Five minutes later, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly joined in for The Undisputed Era, another five minutes later The Authors of Pain and finally Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain for SAnitY. In the course of the match, the wrestlers showed various actions, including Adam Cole had to take a Superplex from Strong from the edge of the cage. In the end, Cole showed a Shining Wizard against Young using a chair and pinned it to win for The Undisputed Era.
