Austin Jenkins (born July 5, 1989 in Lancaster , Pennsylvania , USA ), better known by his ring name Adam Cole, is an American wrestler . He is currently under contract with the WWE .

Wrestling career

Independent Leagues (2008-2017)

Austin Jenkins began his career in 2008. He made a name for himself in the independent scene under the ring name Adam Cole . He played his first match on April 26, 2008 at American Championship Pro Wrestling .

His first wrestling title, namely the MCW Rage Television Championship , he won on August 7, 2009 at Maryland Championship Wrestling under the ring name Adam Carelle. He was able to win the title twice, but he held the title in his second title reign under the ring name Adam Cole.

During his career he competed in numerous wrestling leagues. The most famous were the leagues Combat Zone Wrestling , Pro Wrestling Guerrilla , Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling .

Ring of Honor Wrestling (2009-2017)

He celebrated his greatest successes with the Ring of Honor, where he won the ROH World Television Championship and three times the ROH World Championship . He also won the PWG World Championship at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and the Battle of Los Angeles tournament in 2012 , which is one of the most famous tournaments in the independent world.

On May 8, 2016 at the Ring of Honor PPV Global Wars 2016 , he joined the BULLET CLUB, one of the most famous wrestling groups in the world. On May 14, 2017 at the PPV War of the Worlds , which is organized annually by the Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling, he was expelled from the BULLET CLUB by Kenny Omega .

His last appearance in the independent scene was on August 5th, 2017 at the Liga WrestleCircus , when he and Britt Baker lost their WC Big Top Tag Team Championship to Roppongi Vice (Beretta & Rocky Romero).

World Wrestling Entertainment (since 2017)

NXT and The Undisputed Era (since 2017)

NXT Tag Team Champions and Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winner The Undisputed Era in 2018.

On August 16, 2017, WWE announced the signing of Adam Cole. His debut followed three days later on NXT at the major NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III event . There he attacked the NXT Champion Drew McIntyre with Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish . Since then, the three have formed the stable The Undisputed Era .

On the record, for the December 20, 2017 issue of NXT, fellow stable members Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish of SanitY won the NXT Tag Team Championship . He also became NXT Tag Team Champion through the recognized Freebird Rule . On April 7, 2018 on NXT TakeOver: New Orleans , Roderick Strong joined their stable after betraying tag team partner Pete Dunne and joining the Undisputed Era . With this win, Undisputed Era not only defended the NXT Tag Team Championship, but also won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic . Earlier that evening, Adam Cole was the first NXT North American Championship title holder after beating EC3 , Killian Dain , Ricochet , Lars Sullivan and Velveteen Dream in a six-man ladder match . The reign as NXT Tag Team Champion lasted 202 days and then ultimately lost the title to Mustache Mountain Tyler Bate and Trent Seven on June 19, 2018 at the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament in London , England . His reign as North American Champion lasted 133 days and then ultimately lost the title to Ricochet on August 18, 2018 at TakeOver: Brooklyn IV . On April 5, 2019, Cole played a 2 Out Of 3 Falls match for the vacant NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano , which he lost 2-1. On June 1, 2019, Cole played another match for the NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: XXV , he won this match and was thus able to secure his first NXT Championship and thus became the second Triple Crown Champion at NXT. On August 10, 2019, he played another match against Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Toronto for his NXT Championship, which he won.

On November 23, 2019, he and his Undisputed ERA colleagues played a War Games match against Tommaso Ciampa , Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic and Kevin Owens at NXT TakeOver: WarGames III . He lost that match. On November 24, 2019, he played a match for his NXT Championship against Pete Dunne at the WWE Survivor Series , which he won. He then lost the title to Keith Lee on July 8, 2020 after a reign of 403 days.
