Wrestling career

Beginnings and international independent scene

Mackle began his wrestling career in Scotland . There he trained with Robbie Brookside in the NWA Scotland . He then made his debut in 2005 under the ring name Damian O'Connor at the age of 20 with the Scottish Wrestling Alliance . With Scott Renwick he formed the tag team Britain's Most Wanted , which won numerous titles in various smaller wrestling leagues. Although they never officially split, the two went their separate ways starting in 2009 to focus on their careers as individual wrestlers. Numerous appearances in Ireland, Great Britain, Europe and the USA followed.

His most successful time in Europe was with the Scottish wrestling league Insane Championship Wrestling , where he won the ICW World Heavyweight Championship as Big Damo on February 27, 2016 from Chris Renfrew . In January 2016 he made a few appearances for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). There he competed twice against Eric Young for the TNA King of the Mountain Championship .

In Great Britain, in addition to assignments for Insane Championship Wrestling and Scottish Wrestling Alliance, he also appeared in other wrestling leagues located there, such as Progress Wrestling , Revolution Pro Wrestling , WhatCulture Pro Wrestling , Premier British Wrestling and IPW: UK . He also competed in the German league Westside Xtreme Wrestling and for various US wrestling leagues such as Evolve , Beyond Wrestling or Absolute Intense Wrestling .

He played his last match in the independent scene on October 8, 2016 with the English wrestling league WhatCulture Pro Wrestling , when he lost to Martin Kirby at their WCPW True Legacy event .

WWE

On October 19, World Wrestling Entertainment announced that Mackle had signed a contract. There he was initially part of NXT , the WWE development league. In WWE house shows ran as Damian O'Connor or Damo.

He made his television debut on NXT December 7, 2016, when he intervened in the match between SAnitY and No Way Jose & Rich Swann by attacking No Way Jose and helping SAnitY to victory. On January 18, 2017, he officially joined the SAnitY stable (consisting of Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, Sawyer Fulton, Nikki Cross) after previously attacking Tye Dillinger . He replaced Sawyer Fulton as a member of the group, as he had been thrown from the stable a few weeks earlier within the storyline by Eric Young , the leader of SAnitY . After joining SAnitY , Mackle got the new ring name Killian Dain.

At WWE WrestleMania 33 he played his first match in the main rustler as a participant in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal . There he was one of the last three wrestlers in the ring. He was eliminated by eventual winner Mojo Rawley .

On August 19, 2017 at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III , his stable colleagues Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe from the Authors of Pain won the NXT Tag Team Championship . With the Freebird Rule he also became a champion. On November 18, 2017, he played the first WWE War Games match in 17 years with Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe , against The Undisputed Era and The Authors of Pain , who competed with Roderick Strong . The NXT Tag Team -Titel he lost and Eric Young in the NXT edition of 20 December 2017 The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly ).

On April 7, 2018 Dain was with NXT Takeover: New Orleans of the Sub- Six-Man Ladder matches to the newly introduced NXT North American Championship , where he but was unsuccessful.

At the WWE Superstar Shake-up , which took place on April 16 and 17, 2018, with the exception of Nikki Cross, all SAnitY stable members were transferred to the main WWE on April 17. Since then, Dain, Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe have been part of the SmackDown rooster . However, the group was rarely used and dissolved with the next Superstar Shake Up on April 15, 2019. Dain returned to NXT at the same time . There he played a Triple Threat Match against Pete Dunne and Damien Priest on November 23, 2019 to determine the next challenger for the NXT Championship . However, he lost this match.
